sboardcrazy (24474km): 5-20kts plus SW-SSW Valentine, NSW, AU Sailed 12.15- 2pm with board changes 7.2m Moto- Tabou Bullit 125ltre - 38cms tectonics weedy then WT64 ( 112ltres) - 35cms Tectonics weedy then WT57 ( 90ltres) - 28cms WT weedy Yeehaa! I'm still bouncing. That's the best speed I've got on the lake in a long while and it wasn't flat. Over the back and through 30-60cms messy chop. It looked ok when I first got there - 13-15kts SW. I watched it for a while and it died to 5-10kts. I didn't trust it to rig the big sail so rigged the 7.2m on the 125ltre knowing I'd be underdone. It picked up a little with some rain and I was well powered and changed down a board to the WT64. I used my visored Gath helmet for the first time in years and it was great. I'd treated it with rainex and antifog and the heavy rain wasn't an issue. The wind kicked in after the rain so I swapped to the 90ltre. I was well powered in the gusts and would have been better on the 6.5m but I wasn't sure how long it would last so I just hung on and went for some bearaways..Stoked to see the 2 sec. I got one really nice powered gybe near the shore. Everything felt great but I wrecked it getting myself together before putting the power back on. Still it was the best gybe in chop for a long time. The wind started to get patchy , I was tired and started falling in and it was a bit light to waterstart so I pulled the plug. I timed it beautifully . I got everything packed and got dressed and then the rain hit. A few wingers at first then about 8 once the rain started to come through. I saw the 1.5m shark go past as I was slogging. Luckily it was heading to Coal ..phew..

Andrew Haigh (49098km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Southerly 1-15 kts Stingray 140, Flow 1500 and 5.8m Strange day on the water. Can't remember the last time I didn't see a single vessel for the whole session, not even a winger! The water was an oily black colour, the clouds only slightly lighter. It drizzled a bit at one point, which was a break from the continuous torential rain. Eventually the rain stopped altogther so I headed in. |
