started the day with a big crash because i forget to lower my boom and wanted to go for the mile directly big mistake big gust and i was lifted up in the air smashing my knee into my boards deck. bruised my ancle big time could have been so good after a minute Jacq came by to make his insane mile of 78,9+ km's big respect mate but my time will come . i decided to just go on forget the pain and lost time and make the best of it on the 5x10 seconds because my ancle couldn't hold a mile anymore. Still happy with the result finally a 500meter over 80km and JP/NP leading every day. Big respect to all the guys on the water in these hardcore conditions and sailing pb's especially John Overmeer at his age and to Jacq with the best dutch results ever !!!! Hope Jurjen is ok don't like to hear mates in serious health problems wish u all the best. but u will get ur chance next time for sure. had much fun this weekend with lots topspeeding friends

Sailing records can be so easy to be on the right place at the right time. This session i did only 2 nautical (76,5/ 78,95) and 7 runs (worst 80,20) and this is the result;

-fastest GPS session ever posted by a dutchman
-fastest nautical mile ever sailed
-pr on 500 meter
-number 6 80+ average in month July 2010

We had big respect for the nautical mile of Dirk from sunday but this also was a sign that a 74km/h (40 knots) nautical was not the limit.
I knew after my nautical from sunday of 76,4 that there was still big room for improvement as i had a windhole in my mile.
This nautical of 78,95 will be very hard to beat i guess.

The 4 days trip to La Franqui was a big succes, Hans and i were leading the rankings every day only because we are using the best  equipment offcourse ;-) (JP/NP/C3).
Didn't make any crash in the whole weekend because i'm so confident with and feeling safe on this equipment.
The next goal is to improve the 5x10seconds average, but to do this we need good conditions on other spots than La Franqui.
These speeds will be the limit over there.

The one or two helmets were mostly to protect the baldy's like Barry(NED341) and me from the bright sun. A helmet still doesn't protect you from a broken neck when crashing in the wrong way. Besides that they make a lot of noise making it harder to concentrate.

This remark about noise is true. Sometimes I found it very distracting when wearing a helmet. But I had a few nasry crashes and at least in one helmet really saved my head. So I have decided always to wear it.
