Chris Porter (11725km): ![]() Finally some wind!
A great session after work at Sanctuary Point. Good to share some runs with my dad and meet some of the local crew. Fairly solid breeze and lovely flat spot in close to carve the waterski. Lovely spot to sail. I look forward to a few more sessions there.
(my data was all screwy and I had to delete about 100 invalids to get my alpha data. Anyone experienced this before?)

went for SB thinking there wasn't going to be much on the river arrived to a pretty fresh looking seabreeze rigged 6.2 and 76 got out it wasn't as fresh as i thought sailed for a while the bank was so shallow that if i came off the plane with my 24 cm weedy i was on the bottom, but on the other hand it was very flat got sick of being under powered so came in changed up to the 7.0 only to find that when i got back out it had dropped off and i was right back where i started had a chat to grumpy and sam 6.2 reflex, 76 isonic, 24 custom weedy then 7.0 reflex, 76 isonic, 24 custom weedy first time having the new weedy in the isonic, it went ok with the 6.2 but struggled a bit more with the 7.0 than when it was in the 85 sonic should be perfect with some proper wind and 6.2 or smaller

Missed the best wind which Norts said was at about 3. Should have rigged the 7m. Fun sailing with John and Blair and no kites. Nearly got smacked by a flying fish. Isonic 76, Code Red 6.1m, Falcon F1 31cm.
| lao shi (41082km): Got to Dutchies just after 1pm to see a helicopter circling and a number of boats trolling around down at Leighton. Wind was light and rigged slowly then decided it must be for the sailing but still was a little nervous when a helicopter came over head. Amazing what a bit of pressure can do for your tacks! Only caught a few waves but amazing how it makes all that grovelling worthwhile. Wind was just getting to planing strength as I had to leave for an afternoon appointment. No sand on south side of the groyne just weed and rocks for 200m Combat 5.8, rider x-onshore | ||||||||||||||||||
| Windxtasy (15027km): Melville Beach, WA, AU F111,K 6.4, 31JP weedy then LE 40 Thought about going to Safety Bay but wanted to get some work done and it was looking a bit better on the river than yesterday so I went local. After yesterday's balanced session I set up exactly the same but it never felt as good until I changed to the bigger fin as the wind dropped off. The board planed better on the bigger fin and I started having fun again so I just kept going, and I had plenty of energy left so I thought I'd go for a distance PB. Then I had to get upwind to the start point so there was a bit extra again. I felt I could have kept going but the wind had given up. Considering I rarely sail on consecutive days, my two day distance (47.59) will be a PB by far! The alpha PB is a complete surprise as I could hardly complete a gybe today, in comparison to yesterday when they were going well. I ended up resorting to tacking most of the time today. Less likely to get tripped up by the weed. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Ricey (11089km): Pelican Point, WA, AU Iso 101, Overdrive 6.7m and 28 weedy. Plenty of weed, not much wind, but a good test of the sail set full. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Grumpy (8011km): Very enjoyable sail even though the wind was a little lacking. I love sailing at Safety bay on days like today. It has a bit of everything to offer. I did a bit of touring up to Shoalwater and had fun blasting over the rolling swell at the north end of Penguin Island. Headed back to the pond as the wind started to fill in hoping for some flat water blasting but it dropped shortly after I got there. Unfortunatly the best wind was out in the bumps today so no great speeds but I had fun. I think Scargo and I scared one of the kiters when we both hauled up behind him as we where drag racing into the pond. He had several frantic glaces over his shoulder before we blew past him 101Is, 7.3SB, 36JP Weedy Safety Bay, WA, AU | ||||||||||||||||||
