| Stephen Squirrell (34966km): Didn't know what to do all week as the forecast was changing all the time !!! but at about mid morning Thursday 24 decided to make the 270 mile trip to Kirby for the first time :) told Mag and while she sorted out the food, clothes, bedding etc. I loaded the windsurfing kit on the van and at approx. 2:30 in the afternoon we set off !!! We arrived at Kirby at 9:30 after a bite to eat in the van and a few hold ups on the A14 and M6 :( With the tide breaking over the sea wall we parked up in the public car park next to Morrisons and went for an hour walk along the prom watching the crashing waves :) Friday dawned after a windy night in the van we moved to the lake car park and with the high tide making it unsalable for a few hours and after a chat with Ian R. Mag and I went for a long walk to Hoylake seeing loads of birds and I didn't think Kirby was such a good bump and jump venue as a few wave sailors were out sailing 'the tide’!!! We arrived back as the tide droppped and I rigged my old 2005 x-15 6.4 and went out with my Falcon 80 to get a feel for the place and seemed under powered and my usual slow self making only 33/34 kt runs but the lake was very quiet and with abit more wind tried the Falcon speed and did a couple of 37 kt runs - perhaps I should have tried it earlier!!! Mag enjoyed watching from the comfort of our van and went for a bracing walk around the lake wall and then I packed up and returned to our overnight spot in the carpark before checking out what late evening bargins they had - there were loads :) Then at about nine the second half of the 'Saga' speedsailing team - Peter Cutts arrived :)
Some pics of our 3 days at Kirby :)
