After the gale of last night with heavy rain today dawned fine so after a family haircut and with the sun out I took my gear to Leviongton again. With the wsw wind gusting 25/30 I decided to rig small and went for the 7m,the first time I have used such a small sail on my raceboard.I launched at nearly high water at the marina entrance and hit a rock pushing my fin through the deck of my beloved cat :( and thought that was my day over before it started !!! But I pushed the fin back into place and carried on.The fin lasted the couple of hour session but sadly the wind was too light most of the time for the 7m but I caught a few gusts for a reasonable peak and an okay average considering how lumpy it was.The sky went really black near the end of my session so thinking a squall was coming headed upwind and waited even though my hands were freezing by this time.Sadly when the mega gust came I couldn't get settled in at all and the plate was a little down and was thrown off the board in the middle of the cold river so that was my chance of a good max gone :( So my poor old cat needs a repair and the winds coming later in the week are bringing with them really cold temperatures :( oh to have a easy accessible ,safe ,flatish water spot like Kirby or Portland on my doorstep !!!!

Sorry to hear about the Cat...

Just an update on Portland Harbour at the moment.   The wind is pretty much dead offshore, and as so often happens when its windy this time of the year....the tide is too low for speedsailing for most of the daylight hours!  Its also COLD (certainly for softie southeners).  You're not missing anything!!

Getting a friend to repair it :) I couldn't survive withount my longboard Norman !!! Yes it's abit nippy for me now which is why I take the big board out  - less chance of getting wet !!!! Am keen on giving the longboard a run in Portland - perhaps in the spring ????
