A play day at Area 45 Tongue outTongue outTongue out with the first to 40 mission on our minds. Adrian was posting 39.5 regularing but couldn,t find a 40 so we went off to rig the 5.5, meanwhile out on the water i found a good gust and got a 40.0000. Game on from there. We kept finding better gusts, better angles and then Spotty turned up Laughing. Great flat water which ended in very rough water so it was go fast then stand on the breaks and drive the board up wind to the beach. Did the last run with a 42.8 on the screan, into the rough water only to have the rig seperate and spear me through the mast. Scratch one mast and back. A good job that i,m on sick leave for my eye Yell

Area 45 Inverloch

First time at this spot with some crew and busters. Thanks to the busters for making me welcome on their home turf.

Great session after  a 500km drive but well worth it. Great to see 3 pit crew break the 40 kn voodoo at this place and made it look so easy epecially spotty.

Speeds are slowly climbing as my confidence grows in my gear. Tomorrow should be another good day. Thanks to Kato for the hospitality, think we will sit back and have a couple of beers after his little mishap.

Real sorry that the the old mate Issac couldn't be here as he is overseas and he wouldn't have enjoyed it much.Tongue out

After all the Lake George excitement and numbers from Thursday, it was time to to check out 'AREA 45' for the first time as the easterley winds beckoned.   Arrived to find the locals and other crew members sailing the short little dog leg speed bank run in front of the car park complete with shaded grassy rigging area com plete with brick dunny block so it does not blow away if Slowboat shows upLaughing.

Rigged the 5.8 Koncept,23asym, and 44 and headed out as Kato did his 40 and Ado a 43, I'm thinking well this place can't be called Area 45 unless you can do 45 here so off I went with something to aim for along with the confused chop at the end of the run.   First safety run did a 40, then a 41, and walked part of the run to check the depth and the bottom which resembled the whoops section of a moto-x track.    Smashed out some more runs getting 43 and 44s and then lucked a gust as hooked into the last bit of the run where you bear off for the cameras and peaked a 46 before applying the brakes and heading up across the intersecing channel to the carpark.

So apart from needing a name change from AREA 45 to 46Wink this spot seems like a good little place for those summer easterlys where you can have a picnic with out the sand and bust out some serious speeds at the same time.

Great session at Area 45 Inverloch. There was one mission today - and that was to crack 40knots flat in the inlet. Well - we smashed it. First, I "allowed" Kato to have a cool 40.00knot peak run, while I upsized to a 5.5 KA Race 2012, then out I went in the knowledge that Kato had already cracked it thinking right how can I better that. With a 40.60knot 10sec of course! Then next run, having tuned a few things and hooking into a massive gust which must have been around 30knots and got pushed to 43+. What a rush. It's a crazy short run, where only the last 50m is true broad reach running into a choppy channel!

Than Spotty turned up and the cookies crumbled. He had a coupla warm up runs, then cracks a 43.8 peak and then an hour later a 46+. Insane.

CA40, KA Race 5.5, KA Assy 20, coffee, burger

Numbers from the GPS unit so may be slightly edited on Monday. NM to come once I've checked everything on the software.

Cogratulations Craig.  Fitting it was you seeing you found the spot in the first place.  Perhaps we should rename it - Area 45 Kato's Run.  Awesome respect.

Well done guys. Good to meet you today Ado!

Think I got more exercise swimming after Kato's paddle pop stick than I did windsurfing.

A big thanks to Pete for jumping of his board and swiming for my drifting board. He didn,t get there and i thought that i might have to rescue him instead. Dan for grabing Pete,s gear and sailing after and catching my board and Evan for swiming out and draging the board back to shore. A great team effort by all. The final damage is 1 mast, 1 base( Bin, as its worn out and it let go) and very sore right hand side ribs which i use to break the mast. The track shows a 38kt get off into the mast, pitty as it was my fastest run of the day. Great spot to watch Spotty monster the course then jamb on the brakes to survive. Lets hope the back hangs around for next summer.

Watching the "stack" unfold from the shore, almost slow motion like, was quite an experience. The pro's make it look so easy and graceful! The mast seemed as though it snapped like a twig. I was thinking it may have been quite a bit more painful had that been a rdm. Anyway, I hope the ribs recover soon Craig!

Here was everyone thinking that knocking off a 40 at Inverloch was a bit of a challenge, then you guys go and blow that goal to smithereens!! Amazing stuff guys. Big cojones to exit a speed run at well over 40knots straight into pyramid chop! Surprised Very impressive - or maybe time to up the medication?!

Shame about the injuries. Get well soon Kato and Dan.
