First time visit  to Lake George - bit of a gamble as to whether the conditions would be any good. Left Melbourne at 4am and arrived at LG at about 11am to find three cars parked and no-one around. Soon enough Choco came in saying he'd just had a big spill and that conditions were crap. Soon after Hamma came staggering in with masses of lead on, a water pack and a bag of fins also saying how crap it was - too shallow, too much weed, squally and that he couldn't get clear of the weed to get going at all. Then Tim came in also saying how bad it was. So I was rigged up with my 4m Koncept and debating whether it was worth it and wondering where Jamie was. I'd been there nearly 2hrs faffing about watching squalls whip through lifting spray off the water when Jamie came walking around the corner - no car, no gear! Huh? Turned out he had just done about an 8 km walk around the lake after breaking his boom on the other side. I decided that I had better give it a go since I'd driven so far and staggered out through the nasty mud and did a few runs. I didn't have the guts to do any decent bear offs as the floating patches of weed were a bit of a worry and besides I was getting lifted by the bullet squalls. I couldn't sheet in my sail in the squalls.

Still I could see the amazing potential of the place and can't wait to come back next summer. Great to meet Choco and Jamie and to catch up with Hamma and Tim again. Many thanks to Jamie for the hospitality! Great new caravan!
