Stanley, TAS, AU, Epic day at East Inlet with Perks, Izaak, Jordan, and Barry. The wind came in as forecast and the results followed.

I ended up combining 2 files due to a crash from slowing down fron a 45 kn run, both gps said save to card, so i did that and started a new file.

A great day for everyone on the water.

Mistral 47, OD 5.6 (first time out), CL24W...

Stanley, TAS, AU  Epic day for sure.   A bit late onto the water, scored a PB on my first run. Then the wind starting gusting up to 45 knots.

I focused just on staying in control after that  ..... and watching the big guns firing  .....  heavy artillery down there today. Surprised Anthony, Izaac, Cookie and Jordan were smoking!!!  It was a buzz just to watch it all going down  .... and to escape without injury. Laughing

Stanley, TAS, AU

What a session. I was just starting to equal Cookie and dad run for run towards the end. After a 45.1 on dial after a bit of a crash... i changed sail angle and my stance. Wind picked up just as tide changed. Making this spot have even more potential! Still can't complain with 2 PB'S!! Well done to all, at stanley. I Was on track to a 42 5x10, just need a couple of runs!!

What can i say.... Stanley delivers again! Wrapped with getting over 42knots, god it feels fast. I shudder to think how quick 45 is! Wind got way to strong for me towards the end and i i kept getting picked off the water and spinning out at the start of the run. Big congrats to the boys i was sailing with today, everyone definitely achieved there best. Another Tasmanian record when does it end....

Dorans. WHERE'S THE WIND??? Rigged small so I was ready for a gale but when I left at 2 there were reflections. Lucky for me there was enough wind for a quick blast and a few gybes for about half hour. IS 107 carbon, R3 6.2.

Edit:

Wind came in so went for a late arvo session off Howrah on wave gear Cool 2 sails in one day!

thanks all for your words ,it was a great day in the way that the wind started off around 28kts and built all session. It was tough for Barry who came out just as it got serious around 30/35kts. At this point we all started to get PBs so big smiles were on faces, but over the next hour as the wind went 40+ and the chop came up.  The looks on our faces changed to a very serious half smile as we grabbed our top speeds.  All of as had some close moments and crashes .Congratulations to Cookie for a top 2sec, and a day and state winning 5x10. Izaak did well on PBs really hot on our heels as your form came on pity the conditions bet you in the end. well done Jordan great PBs mate.  Brave sailing for a light weight guy. Well done Barry next time you might get  a bit lighter to start so you can get used to the conditions a little more gradually.

Andrew, great day for the light weight speed sailors. Judging by the comments there will be more of us out there next timeWink Tassie boys

Sorry Ray couldn't be there. He broke a couple of ribs on Saturday speed Sailing at Stanley getting ready for Monday.  It doesn't come with risk speed sailing. Frown

Thanks Perks. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the  chance to settle into it. The wind seemed right as I headed out and my strategy was to ease into it over half hour or so before going for a PB. Got one on the first run at which point I was pretty happy. As it cranked up quickly my reactions were'nt quite sharp enough. An hour to ease into might have made the difference. .. the downside of the nightworking bod.

But it was a buzz to watch you guys  showing how it's done.  Hopefully I learned a bit from you guys  and I might do a little better next time.

There were some dicey moments for all of us. We were all flirting with danger, pushing the limits. We wouldn't be out there if we weren't prepared to take risks. The tumbles, crashes and bounces were relatively minor  and the success were mostly about skill rather than outlandish lunges for glory.  Full-on adrenalin, for sure, that's what makes it such a buzz.  An epic memorable day.
