Lake George, SA, AU - about 30 knts SE

i101/Koncept 5.4 & 5.0/weed fin 29 (22 deep)

First time sailing here, tried to get used to the conditions and not kill myself. The place is incredible, but so different to what we are used to. Will post more comments on seabreeze.

Out early today, and not many people there. Rigged up the 7.2 Hellcat with i97 and GW 36 fin. A quick run out to kurnell while the wind was not too strong. Did some kms in marginal conditions, but the i97 gets going in not much so I was having some good fun and planing almost all the time. At one point I sailed alone for about half an hour in about 15-20 knots. Then it picked up to about 20-25. I decided to change the fin to a Sting 34, and put max downhaul and outhaul on. I sailed for another 45 minutes or so, and was mostly in control. I think I did the fastest speeds at this time including a nice Nm run down the runway. The last 15-20 minute was starting to get pretty overpowered (25-30 at times??). I was OK sailing out, but struggling overpowered on the way back into the chip after a downwinder down the runway so having to come upwind.

Great to see lots of DDs out there, and a nice catchup chat after the sail was great. Great to see so many out on a week day.

Cheers,

Adrian

A nice powered up sail at Kyeemagh. No real attempts at speed, just enjoy the sun, wind and warm weather after a long day of work.

I was a little late to the party, and the wind dropped off a fair bit while I was faffing about / rigging up. Still had some nicely powered up runs downwind though, so was disappointed never to see 30.

Then, when I was right out in the middle, the wind died completely and suddenly. I mean, really nada, no motion possible. Eventually enough breeze came back for me to wobble to shore for the walk of shame, entertainingly captured in my GPS tracks..!

Nice day for a cruise until NE dissapeared..

Naish Hybrid 110 with 36cm fin, 6.2 NP RS Slalom Mk111 because my 460 mast had busted.

Its great we can back up George over in SA. Well done George on the PBs for your first day there. They are probably the first of many. Well done Remi, Artur and Adrian on your PBs. Its another great day for the Demerits in a great month for us. As we reach the end of this month here is hoping we can continue the momentum into February.

Good to catch up with you Sparky. Its great to get out on the water in the afternoon after work isn't it? You were doing great out there as we were packing up.

Grats powersloshin on pb's. Jamie and I were watching your second session whilst having a beer. Pretty good sailing in that strength wind btw.

Catch you Thursday from Cocky's point? Its way easier to drive there than the Spit:-\ Beofe the bitumen road ends take the cutting to the right, generally follow the path out heading NE'ish.
