Victoria Point, QLD, AU

Good SE'ly this morning. But a bit bumpy. Tried bearing off a bit more but wasn't powered up enough. Still enjoyed it though!!!

Used Exocet Warp 90L 5.3 Naish Session and 30cm Fin.

Must be getting better - all the results from today are in my top 3 for every category !!

Knee high chop just no flat stuff today even though it was a good low tide never seemed to go out much.

Got half a hr in then it died for about 15mins but came back but not over 20kts the whole time.

Sailed the NE leg of the bank with Albert, Kurt and George. The wind cycled from 10kts to 25kts. It was a matter of timing to get the good gusts on the speed run. My 2sec peak is a PB for the Futura 110. A challenging sail in unfamiliar waters, but rewarding.

Went out at the Grand but really gusty with short runs so quickly packed up and headed for the train. Missed the low tide but still some nice strong gusts in between the rain squalls. The shifting wind direction didnt help either. Wind dropped out far too ealy for my liking. Hopefully can get down there a bit earlier tomorrow. Great Alpa Greg - your improving with every sail!!!!

Victoria Point, QLD, AU, Falcon 104, Nash freeride 6.5 and Viper fin 34cm. When I got down there, there were no windsufers just kiters and only 18 knots maximum. Walked down to the point and saw nobody sailing at the mudbar and now the wind had dropped to almost nothing. I was about to go home, but decided to check the other side first and there were John, George and Kurt and they were heading to the bar. So I rigged up and went out and joined them. Wind was very gusty and died almost to nothing at times and then you got 25knots bullets that lifted me up and slammed me into the sea, cause I did not have the right sail to handle them, but I thoroughly enjoyed the outing. Where were you Glynn?

Better than I expected, still it was gusty & hard to get a good clean run.

Had a good warm up swim for maybe 30+ metres with no wind and a panic swim to the bank Sealed

Managed 6 runs in total and got 15 mins of decent wind before it backed right off. Ashame realy as i just tuned my gear. Sorry Team only one lucky 2 sec on a slight bear off and time to drive home again. lol. ( 100M peak over 40 knots) need to up my 5x10.

It was looking magical, with a hope that the wind would really crank as forecast. Magic place and finally sailed it Laughing

Loft 6.3/jp56\ven30(now 40 knot approved) lol

Day trip to Burrum, was a bit of a mixed bag. Wind super gusty and rain squalls, a few big gusts with the squalls.

Bad gear selection. Rigged for the forecast which was over cooked. Way too much effort to change up...bugger

Absolutely fantastic result Phil !

I keep spying how you do this and already today improved my results by 3 knots just by following your track.

I wish one day to cut this gap between our results to 3 knots  on the same place and day and I will be totally happy.

Kurt,

If you had followed me to the flat water I'm sure you'd have creamed it. 31kts in the big chop is still very impressive. I'm happy with my 31kts.

Peter,

Your new PB is a beauty. The wind picked up at Victoria point when you left. Thanks for making the symbolic sacrifice.I'm glad the train worked out for you this afternoon.

Congrats Mark on PB.

Jarruea Wow fantastic peak new BP for you in Qld waters.

Nice speeds for those who went to Burrum but 8hrs driving for low Ks looks like wind wind didn't play its part.

Just had a talk with the Burrum sand bank committee and they want that JR fellow banned for panic swimming near the shark breeding grounds.Tongue outSmile

depends what time of day you swim the vp bank.  Done it twice- 1st time middle of day vando destroyed all his kit in crash, was bit under the weather & had spent a fair while in the water.  Gave him my kit to sail back & i swum his down to ferry terminal, we stayed together for most of it & most concerning thing was staying out of way of boats. 2nd time near dark vando, pierre & i swam back to thomsons.  Dont recommend it, swim to boat ramp instead.  Was bloody scary, we got seperated maybe 45min swim & man i was standing on that 80L board up to chest in water every chance i got.  Stupid but it just feels better when you're right way up.  Phone not such a bad idea, wonder how sticker greg would feel about rescuing us.  I imagine coast guard pick up would be a bit exxy, if they nice they charge donation which is about $70.  What price do you put on a leg or two though.  Would rather swim Vic Pt than burrum anyday.
