fangy (22667km):
3656 days ago 2 categories Well the autumn of my discontent continued today with Hardie being the latest taking liberties with transgression on to the sacred patch at Fangy's. In an attempt at perhaps sailing Fangy's without paying the license fee Hardnose rigged up down at S bend and then caught Decrepit and I by surprise by being first out on the water after bursting from the camouflage of his mobile meth lab. His manifest disdain of the etiquette of sailing on Fangy's was further on show when he then went and used up all the best of the breeze and posted the fastest speeds. Completely unsportsmanlike. It was lucky that I had just got back from the Lego movie with my youngest daughter and was still singing " Everything is Awesome!! " to the point of annoying myself and so I let the Hardone get away with this blatant display of disrespect ..... this time...
I was in a quandary as to what to rig. My initial plan was to ask Decrep and then do the opposite of whatever he suggested, but unfortunately I found that I was in agreeance with him. Tide was higher again today and comparatively rough as a result, so I went for my MUFin 26 speed weed, KaKoncept 8.5 and the F2log. I managed a quick charge around before the wind started to drop. I found that I was now getting into the situation where I was stuck to the bottom of the estuary at every gybe because when there was a lack of wind the F2log floats me as happily as a brick.
Time to change up to QEII.Plus the added bonus of the Hardbody, having done his normal session of 5 or maybe 6 minutes, was slinking back to his shaggin wagon to head home. I was really hopeful that the wind would now pick up, but Decrep was still out exerting his calming influence on the wind and water. The water was getting smoother, but for all the wrong reasons, a complete lack of wind being the most important.
Then Decrep pulled up stumps. Now things will get awesome, I thought. Incorrectly as it turned out. But having recently become a convert to the 'Elmo school of size does matter', the biggest sail in my armoury kept me planing for a little while longer. The result being a couple of smooth runs in fading breeze that really capped off what was a pleasant little sail.
Except of course the wind appeared to pick up as soon as I came ashore...
