Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. NEVER been so scared!!! Could see a big electrical storm to the north and I thought it had just missed us so decided to go out. Pretty much had 1 run when wind died and i noticed that the storm was coming straight for me. Must of walked easy 500m. Wind swung from East right round to the NW and strenthened when I was about 500m off shore with lightining all around and i was able to plain to sure. Truly unforgetable sesh. Should of been there 1 hour earlier.

I have been in those conditions before on Q/Lake. Mick. Not good! I head in now as soon as I hear thunder.

I went to Q/Lake today about 11.30am but no good came home. Some facts on Lightning.

It varied around 4-10 seconds when we were on the water a bit frightning.

Some close calls there guys with the lightning!! Bit like playing Russian Roulette, bound to get one sooner or later.

Only time I ever experienced something like this I was on a Windsufer so I had a fibreglass mast and not a carbon electricity conductor. Managed to get back in OK but those out with carbon masts said they had "electric tingles" in their arms for a while afterwards.

Very lucky lads.
