Princess royal harbour Quarannup, Iso 105 RSREII 7.8 Pepecarbon wed 26

Fun winter sail, sun with little wind then cloud and some wind. Sooo much better than working. I packed up when I could see heavy rain over Lilacs. It never arrived and since I got home there has been more wind and more sunshine. May try again tomorrow.

Somehow I have managed to lose the mast plug from the top of this sail. Took the one from another sail. No idea how I lost it .

Super quick post before I pick up snot gobblers. A quick sail at Nairns in pre-frontal winds, with Wazza and Puffin. Nanna Shano turned up just as I was leaving so he could use his Nanna chair without fear of repercussions. Anyway, the wind was all over the shop. I rigged up the Koncept7.5 on the QEII, thinking I would bash out an hour. I charged over to the south side of the estuary and ran out of wind. I grovelled for yonks before the wind died completely, shifted and then came in at 25 knots all in the space of a minute. I ended up in the drink and could not get going again. Trying to water start the big sail in the flying chop was beyond me. So I just sat it out. Initially I was content to just sit in the water and drift to leeward, but then Elmo's stories of lots of big fish with undiscerning appetites started to mess with my head. The water is full of run off and silt over on the southside. It's murky and all of a sudden not at all inviting. So I sat it out..on the board with the spray and chop smacking into me. I did not want to waste this time, so I thought of ways to blame Captain Calm. It's a bit spooky, but as soon as I invoked the spectre of Captain Calm, the wind died.... I headed back across north, but something didn't feel right. I got back to Nairns and checked out the boom - somehow in my attempts to get going in the squall the crappy fibrespar plastic boom clips had given up on one side. Doh! I attempted a quick on water repair that proved to be brilliantly useless. So packed up and headed home..and now the school bus is here. Hopefully a Top Ten Fangy a Day tomorrow :-)

         Coodanup Nairhs WA AU.

Wind a bit up and down, and aii over the place, with some gusts good enough to get some runs in.

Tryed out an old Wetdreams custom board with some hard "killer"rails, and survived,so things are all good.

Been waiting for a Fangy War and Peace tutorial but a quick, precise and terse account of a sail?? Snotties exerting pressure perhaps??

Sad to hear you did not have a great session Fangy. I packed up as there was an approaching rain storm. It never arrived and all afternoon the wind taunted me as the sun shone. Air temperature went up to 18 C , practially a heat wave for Albany in the winter. Forecast is for storms tomorrow, hope to get out but we shall see.

Pepe it is possible, I will have a good look tomorrow. I did try looking at the top where it was meant to be but now you mention it I did not look in the rest of the 4.5 metres of the luff tube. It is a pretty big tube. Thanks for the tip (not a stupid idea at all).

Larko, I was also sailing without booties and expected to end up with your blue ET lookalikes as well... Evets, best super cheap mast plug I have used is a champagne cork trimmed down...come to the think of it, perhaps it's not a very cheap fix at all depending on the bottle it comes from. BluePuffin - you want to see blue, check out larko's feet!

With my new GT31 still glinting ominously in the sunshine, flying a NP 6.4m2, F2 Vento, 36" weedy and sporting a stupid grin  I had a great time at Nairns and , in between scuds, lulls and incompetence, managed 24.85 knots. Woo Hoo! If the physio who's been helping my battered carcass had seen me ( now, take it nice and easy; just go 50% for a few minutes at a time; don't get pressured into trying to go fast. Yeah. right.) he's have gone ballistic.

Unfortunately the speed is unofficial as a Stewards Enquiry found that some complete idiot hadn't turned The GT31 off after derigging and it had been spotted doing 32knts in the vicinity of Pinjarra Road. After reference to the Tide Tables, MHWS and other maritime data I was taken away for further questioning.

I had the BEST day. Although everything hurts, this bag of bones hasn't gone that fast ever before so, I say again...

....Woo Hoo!

WAZZA! at last you are on the board..almost. But don't worry you are not the first to have recorded some brilliant 5x10 speeds on the tarmac. :-)

Windxtasy, that's a good idea, it would go really well with the all our awards for ' Most awesome Physiques ' Perhaps we should have a chat about getting a trophy organised :-P )

Evets mate, I should leave all the heavy duty thinking to you. Yep I had not though of that, so we had better add that to our trophy cupboard as well, just one without doors so we can see if the trophies are all alive or dead at any given moment.
