Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Nice little last minute sail. Tried in vain to get to either Kurrimine or up to Pt Douglas to have a sail with Fast Ed. Ran out of time fast and decided that the breeze was to good to miss out on, so piled a bit of gear into the work ute and head to the local - Hollaways Beach. On arrival I could see Tony the Trucky on the horizon and Chris from SA rocked up with in a minute or two.

Rigged the Blue Bludger and headed out to the blue yonder. Cracking wind line out wide - solid 15 knts and reasonably smooth due to the out going tide - well, smoothish for Holloways any way. Pretty fluttery in close and by 3pm the wind had really dropped off. Have to say - Top  10 day out there today. Was comfortable to say the least. Couldnt crack a decent downwind run and looking at my track , way to short. Had a hard time trying to pick the right gust to try a hard l/hand turn and crank it down wind.

Looking forward to tomoorow on the water. Conner (eldest stinky love child) is keen to keep improving, so we are heading down the road to Kurrimine Beach tomorrow for some practice. Hopefully the rabble havnt packed up and left by then. Look forward to catching up with Firie Bob and Chris b4 they head west.

Post Script - Wow. Decided to really give my jibes a crack today, dropped every one of them , bar the one that landed me the PB. Cool. Really was a Top 10 Day at H/Beach.

Clifton Beach, QLD, AU

havent sailed off the beach in cairns for years so met up with cam and kel at clifton for an arvo bash. was nice wind for an hour or so with lots of cats racing around and the water on the inside of double island and scouts hat pretty smooth.

had a bit of an incident with what i thought was the rescue boat for the cat racing that was happening at ellis beach. i was coming in and the boat heading out behind the fleet so i ducked behind the boat. I'm normally very cautious about this as people often trolling for mackies but being the recue boat i thought i would be safe especially seeing as though i couldnt see any rods. turns out they were trolling with about 80lb handlines. both lines took up on tension on my mast first and then one after the other pinged off the sail at about eye level. One bit of the line flicked my hip on the way past. Talk about fucking lucky. the thing that pissed me off the most was that the blokes onboard didnt even try to warm me about the lines.

didn't quite get thirty cam!

Clifton Beach, QLD, AU

Fun sail with Cam and Benny at Clifton and double Island, Tried to sail with my 90 and 6.7 as the wind looked Ok when rigging, but after slogging back from the island i gave in and borrowed Cam's 117 and had a fun sail even though I was way underdone with the 6.7.

Used Isonic 117 overdrive 6.7 and C3 Sting 42 Cool

Kurrimine Beach, QLD, AU

Took the retirement home down to Kurrimine Beach with the idea of conning a few of the team down. Very happy to spend the weekend with Herby, Hoppy and Freddy, and Rossco on Saturday. We got a sail in on Saturday in very light wind which was actually very enjoyable, especially trying to catch slippery Herbo, every time I managed to pump up on the plane he'd have a 100M start on me, bastard. I did get to see two mantra rays, one of which scared the crap out of me, plus I saw a large turtle, water was warm and crystal yay.

Also had a good time around the camp fire, a little rum and wine and plenty of B/S Smile

CA SL66, 42 Venom, 7.8 Switchblade and boardies.

G'day Team. Thank you. I can really feel the improvement this season. Just need to pushing outside my comfort zone.

Was planning a trip to Kurrimine today, but was unable to get the young fellow out of bed. By the time he got up the 2 hour trip south wasnt going to make it worth while. Hope you had a great weekend in the retreat Bob and Chris and the neighbours wernt to noisy.

Congrats on the PB's young Bill. Good to see a few on the water on Sat.

Billy. Good thing you didn't get to Kurri on Sunday. I went down about lunchtime, all the others had left coz of a little rain, and the wind looked great 15 -18 kt at least. Rigged gear just as a rain squall approached headed out in heavy rain, kept hitting sand bars then when the rain settled no wind at all. Wasn't even worth posting. Kiter Bob told me so.
