10-35kts SSW Brandon lane Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU.

With 25-30kt S predicted all day I was surprised no one else was at Brandon. They all went to seventh st(?).

First half was crap. Got there and blowing 25-30+ so rigged the 3.8m + 78ltre Tabou Pocket wave + 18cms freemove weedie. Wind died down so slogged all the way up to the flat water than realised I needed bigger gear so slogged back..pretty buggered by now as I was yawning on the way down after sailing yesterday.

Rigged the 4.8m + 95ltre ( was blowing 10-12kts SW at this time but I didn't trust it.) Slogged back up and had some underpowered sailing while everyone else blasted back and forth. Just set to go rig bigger gear and it came in 20-30kts..Yeehaa ( zzzzzz)...buggered by now but a got a few nice bearaways and gybes. I muffed a few of my best gybes hitting a clump of weed as exiting and grinding to a halt. Catapulted once due to a weed clump.

Bit scary blasting right into the shallows as the fin was grinding along the bottom at times when I wasn't powered up but I survived. Ripples so not as flat as it can be there but still pretty good.

I decided to go in as the wind really came in and I was overpowered and exhausted so could have been nasty.B hell! What a ride in 29kts down the back of large chop overpowered..adrenaline stuff.

Would have liked to get over 30kts ( got 29.97 on GPS) but it wasn't to be. Supeman Milsy was hanging onto a 7m all the day.. Undecided Frothie , Mick , Milsy , Andrew + others..

Wow, I thought I might have got a 29, so bad was my day. boom kept slipping, so I came in early & came home to fix it.  was not as smoooth as usual, I guess the rain has filled up the lake a bit too much. CASL62, 5.9, MUF19

Great stuff team. It was killing me to be buried at work when I knew it was smoking down there. Bruce 34.7 is nice for a "bad day" and Andrew 35 is excellent. Well done.

Thanks for all the comments.

Because the forecast was so big today the biggest sail I took was a 6.0, I foolishly packed a 5.0 and a 4.6.

Rigged the 2007 North Daytona 6.0 on a 2007 wave mast and a 1999 boom - It has been a trusty combination for many years which I should probably retire off.

The morning was very disappointing, with barely enough to get planing and not enough to work back up the launch point.

After lunch things looked a little more promising each rain squall bought a little bit more wind. Had several runs over 34, one with 0.1 of my previous PB, it was late in the day when a strong gust pushed me over 35.

Oh! I thought you'd left earlier. I left about 2.38pm. Yes it did seem to be getting better then.

Where you launched is good because there is no chop to negotiate but its nice to know that at the end of the day when your buggered its a downhill run home ( except for the chop).Surprised We need some loos at brandon. I checked out the oval nearby but they are locked Yell.

If you have anything to eat watch out for the pesky magpie at brandon. I was sitting eating a sanger and it came up.I had to keep swiping it away - it would only jump 4". Then it hopped onto my thigh and grabbed some..Undecided
