Melville Beach, WA, Patrik 125, Turbo 6.5/6.0

Woot woot, what fun! Good turn out again today. Managed to get a good sail in a pack up before the rain hit!

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Got down to find some flattish water for Melville so decided to have a go at some alphas on the 91. Unfortunately needed to use a weedy which always makes the cross wind run harder to get good speed. Most were too wide but good min speeds in the mid teens.

Happy with the result for the first proper session and learnt that the board needs a committed gybe with the weight forward.

One speed run before I realised that I had a big split in one of the panels. Bit of tape and went back out but by then the wind had dropped.

Called it quits before the rain came. Another good turn out.

Early one again, wondered if it was worth it with the marginal forecast but it turned out quite good. Weedy was needed as i hooked up a bunch of snot weed but it didnt throw me off luckily. Some rather impressive speeds by others out there today. Nice work peoplesSmile

Laughing GPS worked today Laughing

Went on a mision down to Point Walter first up looking for a NM, it started out ok but ten I hit the chop from hell about 1/3 of the way there, and turned into survival mode. I was quite happy to actually get back in one piece.

After recovering from that beating, just had a few runs inside the sand bar but the wind was dropping by then before the rain came in and the wind switched to W.

Fun morning before the rain came. Rigged too small - the M91 is such a smooth board, I prefer sailing it over-powered.

But heaps of fun - some nice flatter spots in the corner.

Good to see everyone out - Patrick, Craig and Alan were doing some scorching runs.

Haven't been out in ages so very happy with the results.

I recon I could have gone faster with a smaller / better fin and I must admit that the Vector Carbon Volt fins seem to have too much drag for speed sailing. Having said that, they are highly recommended if you just want to blast around as they trim the board very nicely..

Thanks to Mark for helping with the file Cool

Great to see the team commitment, getting out early on a Sunday morning even after a big week of sailing. The weather looked very inviting this morning and I would have liked to join you but I had other commitments.

Congratulations Lunny, on the 2 PBs and cracking the 1000K mark in very short time - especially considering the time of year. With that amount of practice I am sure your speeds will improve rapidly once we get some good speed conditions.

Sweet alpha Lao, yes, everyone says the Mistrals need to have the weight forward to get the whole rail engaged for a good gybe.

Nice alpha backup Patrick!

Alan, glad to see that GPS is working again. Must be frustrating for you, never knowing whether it is going to record or not.

JJ, Mr Reliable, as always. Your enthusiasm & commitment always spurs on the rest of the team. Thanks.

Craig, I wasn't joking yesterday when I said it took me nearly 2 years to reach 1000 km. I checked back and it took 21 months and 77 sessions. You have done it in three months and about 20 sessions. Great effort!

Thanks allSmile I count myself very fortunate to have a great work shift roster to be able to get out more. Imagine if we had more wind in the past few months. Hmmm 50k average per session, 2 sessions per week well it should take around 7 years to get to where lao is. Geez thats a lot of sailing MarkSurprised

I popped in to Melville today on the way back from Freo but I think everyone had already packed up.

Hooksey, if you need help email your file to Mark and he will separate out your session for you.

Hi Hardpole, I was thinking it must be getting close to time for you to test that knee... Good conditions last week for a gentle sail.
