Port Douglas, QLD, AU

Real nice afternoon playing in Ed's back yard. Good to catch up again with Andrew, Ian and James as well. Looking out over the water on the way up, all one could see was an eyefull of white caps. Looked like it had set in pretty early and on arrival and inspection at the waters edge, a nice and reasonably solid 20knter was being served up Smile

Timed it so I was an hr either side of low tide and it was certainly getting rougher in the second hour with an incoming tide. Although I gained myself an unoficial open ocean PB - 28.52 Laughing, it starting to get pretty difficult to pick a line between the rolling line of swells and with a SSE blowing, if you had a real good go at a downwinder, you ended up with a real hard run back into the wind to make it close to our start point. No need for a walk of shame if you didnt have too.

Should be some good postings later on as there was a fair swag of sailors out today.

Way too hungover to push it but fun sail none the less.  Wind was good initially but tapered off significantly for the last half hour making for a lot of slogging. Love this combo powererd up.

Clifton Beach, QLD, AU Another fantastic day off the Beach & the Southern Arm of Double IS in 18-24 knots .Started on wave gear for something different & then switched over to the RRD 90 Viper 34 & RSS 7m2 mk4 .

Always hairy on the first few runs on the REEF Margin during the tide transition -never quite sure how much water there is to play in -payed the price today when some swell I was running down sucked most of the water off the top of a small bommie & the fin clipped .Sounded like a gun went off but suprisingly the damage was not fatal -crack adjacent to the fin box & roughed up leading edge but still sailable thankfully .

Kel didnt fare so well unfortunately ....

Overall a Fantastic Day in Paradise !!SmileCool

Port Douglas, QLD, AU Port Douglas turned it on for the boys today..Good solid wind and a mostely friendly sea..Billy came and draged my sorry ass off the couch just before lunch time and was keen to do battle and said the rest of the crew where running hot as well.By the time i got fired up the boys where into it and going hard.. was in cruise mode for most of the day, followed freddie down wind a couple of times but he was going to far of coures for me..As i am a bit to lazy to sail back up the beach again..But it payed off for him as i think he was the fastest kid on the block...Didn't do a pit stop, decided to smash it strait through to knock off time..It started to get very chopped up in the last half hr,and i dropped a couple gybes which always pisses me off Was getting a bit shagged by then which didn't help..Outher than that a good fun session .. 97 lt Isonic' turbo Duck 'was very comfortable with 5.4m North rig, would of been a bit quicker with a little smaller fin,but i think just like that good up wind performance a' bit to much' and never getting spin outs..Some thing i will have to work on in the future..Think everyone went home happy after a coffe and a chat at my humble beach house..Cheers Ed..

Clifton Beach, QLD, AU

PB Day!!! Fastest time from work in town to sailing of the beach at Clifton! Rang Cam at 215pm to make sure it was good enough to finish work and was on the water by 3! Cam was already at Double island so I decided to go strait into a Nm run and get to the reef flats as quick as i could.

Unfortunately i only lasted the first 500m before I buried the nose at 32Knts with mast destroying force.Yell

After a nice swim in I dragged the remains of my gear up the beach and headed home with my tail between my legs.Embarassed

Used Isonic 90, Overdrive 6.7 C3 S2 34.

Great sail at port with the boys. Nothing exciting to report like kel and Cam but just a few words so the boys can see their

name in print.....

Billy is improving with every sail (bas*#@d).... sailed with his 6.5 today while the rest of us

used 5.0's and 5.4's...great effort and thank you very much for the harness lines ..very much appreciated!

Ian had 27.27 on the dial but will have to wait until he gets signed on to post.

James had a 'sore back' but still managed to sail all day.....where's his bloody gps?

Eddy is getting used to his new board ...clocked up quite a few km's.

Watching the wind on the trip North so snuck in a sail in Ingham. Direct onshore and gusty, with huge chop and shore break. Challenging conditions. 123 Fanatic, 6.4 Kult.

Bloody hell Cam, there's never a dull moment when your out on the water is there. Cant wait to hear about Kel's tale!!! Over all though, it really was a glorious sailing day in FNQ. Great to see Herby having an innings, the lads from Central Qld- Nigel and Brian, scrubbing out some cob webs. Great effort all round gents.

Fangy, still hurting too.  Don't know if I ever have my brain working at full capacity either.

Cam, did Kel get hurt or was it only gear carnage?

Snags I look on it as good preventative maintenance. You are pruning out the non performing brain cells leaving more room for the remaining half dozen or so that remain to thrive. It's a bit Darwinian, but I am sure only the strong ones survive, the weak are weeded out.

Kel, a session for the ages.  have buried the nose at speed and it ain't fun.  Glad you didn't hurt yourself but more importantly you didn't put a hole in  the board with your head Wink

It was Great Fun Snags! Held on to the gear all the way in, even had my feet in the straps. Sort of like a forward, exept replace the back slap with a face smash!

Great days sailing with some of the FNQ MOB at Port D. All had a great day, and no broken gear ! - well except for Fred`s uni joint and my ego as everyone blasted past me. We missed the refreshing cold ales at the end of the day so often supplied by Billy, but had a very nice fresh coffee and muffins at Eds place instead -- thanks Ed and Sue.

see you all next time

I think I finally worked out how to post my GPS data!!   My Mac won’t recognise the SD card formatted by the  GT-31.  Does anyone else use a Mac ? if so do you have any tips to make the uploading process smoother?

Hey if anyone is interested i am selling my much loved '101Fanatic Falcon'..Have sailed it for 2 seasons and up graded to a 97lt Isonic which is ment to be a very hot board..have had 2 hard sessions on the isonic, and there isn't a lot of difference between the 2 boards Isonic is a little faster and is a bit better to gybe when being pushed hard, other than that very similar boards..Falcon has had a stress crack a couple of inches long professionaly repaired on deck which is very hard to notice and  a touch up done on the nose ..still a very tidy board for a very fair prise  $250 with board bag..Also have a 100% carbon 460 severn mast $80..Cheers Ed..Just saw Photos Great work BOB your a Legend..Always have been....
