Another enjoyable sail with Fangy from S Bend. I'm extreemly pleased to report, even Fangy was forced to revoke my Cpt Calm status. He was out dogging about, thinking of calling it quits, but as soon as I hit the water, it picked up and we were both happily planning!!! How is that for a turn of events?

I went with the rig I finished with yesterday, the 6.6 on the 53 with the not quite finished 18cm 50d weedy. Practiced alphas in the gusts and chop gybes out the back.

Came in to find Tomski rigging, he was flying around on an 8.5 when we left.

An unexpected delight at Fangy’s with Captain Calm. I dropped a line to Calm HQ first thing this morning as the breeze across the flats was sitting at 14 -15 knots and there was plenty of water about to go and have a play on the flats. Calm HQ was good to go, but Wazzasleepin was having trouble putting on his undies the right way round and would be several hours getting it sorted.

Somewhat predictably as soon as Captain Calm rigged the wind dropped out and left me close to being skunked. I had been trying to decide between the Koncept 8.5 and 9.4 on the QEII with obligatory Delta24 and now was cursing the Calmeister for leaving me with with too small a sail rigged. But then a really odd thing happened. Against all known laws of probability , physics and probably decency as well, when the Captain did hit the soup the wind filled in a knot or two and although I was never close to being overpowered it ended up being a really pleasant sail in the sun in company.

The only event of note for me was the Corvette Convention down at the eastern end of the flats. I lost count on the amount of times I passed over a stingray. But I do remember very clearly the one that I didn’t quite make it over the top of. I am sure the ray will remember it too!

Called it a day and came for lunch just as Tomski came down and when I left, he seemed to be enjoying a groove in the smooth.
The sheer delight at getting an unexpected sail in nice conditions means, you might have already guessed, it was a Top Ten Fangy Day.Laughing

Larko, recently we have had some really really close session numbers. I think sailing with Cap'n Calm gets you sucked into this Bermuda Triangle like vortex where you cant go any faster than the DecreptisingVortexInducer, but you do get pulled along in its wake.....
