Andrew Haigh (48951km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Decided not to sail today as I was still trying to fix the car. The southerly came in about 2pm, but didn't look that exciting. So finished car and settled down to watch the Cricket. Gradually the cloud came over and the wind picked up. Les turned up and rigged a 5.3, so I was tempted out. Rigged the 5.9 on the Falcon 89. By the time I got out it was pretty full on conditions, gusting up to 30kts at times. Happy with the speeds in the conditions. Good work Sue, looks like you wasted your time going to LG.
sboardcrazy (24353km): c 20-30kts S Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU- favourite combo - 79ltre Falcon -5m OD + not so favourite 20 cm delta My ploy worked.. ( insert evil laugh) I told the guys it was gusting 30+ in Sydney so they all rigged small..he hee.. Well it always happens just when I'm about to give up something happens..Pretty average sail- not many gybes as lost too much ground ( need to learn to tack ) or too shallow and bottoming out in close.Seemed to spend all my time working up into the flats ( some lovely flat water) but no decent gusts and too short to do anything with when you did get one.. I've had this stupid sport ..bugger speed sailing etc etc.. Decided I'd go for a port tack run out into the chop as at least that had wind! Easiest PB I've had in a while! Lovely to actually be powered up in the run! "'Interesting" at the end as I spun out and the back end finished the run parallel to the 1' + waves.. Couldn't believe it when I saw the GPS - 34.73kts..Yee fricking Haa!!!!!!!! .. I'd given up on getting over 33kts locally.. Didn't catch anymore decent gusts..Hate Deltas with a vengeance! Spinout city especially as I was going out into 2-3' chop working upwind..Oh well suppose I'll just have to get used to pressure on & off depending on gusts and lulls.. Byron Mcilveen (63644km): Brightwaters, NSW, AU TR11 6.6, rs2, v max 33 and 31 Love the new sail very happy with those speeds in chop no flat water. My self and Hue decided to go here thinking there would not be enough wind at Buff point. wow did it get windy hanging on to the 6.6 in some of thoses gusts. We worked up wind finding it a bit flater its such a big lake. I ended up going down to sunshine but wind backed off so came back up home. Great fun with Hue and a very impresive speed of around 36.5 on his 66 wide board we love pushing each other.
GeoffS (7860km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU iSonic 125 Gaastra 6.0 Southerly came in early. Managed to get out with gear that was too big till it picked up a notch then it was plain stupid. Ended up with a lot of unintentional air completed with a massive catapult and a painfull whiplash to the neck. Decide it was time to pike it.
Ian Wright (15903km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Nice southerly 20-25 knots. Seatrend ATV 271 and revo 5m. 6-7 sailers and a kiter all having a great time.

James Farley (12642km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet Cross 94, Mauisails Legend 5.0, 30cm fin - Wind S 20-25 kts Fantastic southerly at Marmong - one of the best sessions I've had in a long time. Stacks of people out, good consistent wind, and plenty of rolling swell for jumps. Love using the FSW gear in these full on conditions.

Hugh (11029km): Bonnells Bay, NSW, AU great arvo crazy conditions
adamhatfield (2074km): Strong southerly JP Freestyle 100 and Neil Pryde Alpha 5.4 Lots of fun but pretty overpowered at times. Marmong Point, NSW, AU
Bruce Healey (24088km): Burrum Heads, QLD, AU 2nd day of racing at Burrum Windfest. Was NE which is unusual & a bad direction, quite rough on the downwind run & moguls on the upwind. Nice sailing but not fast. |
