fangy (22667km): A quick bash around on the Party Barge with Lunny and Shane before school run. Post more later Phone data; 2sec - 33.867 5x10 - 30.747 Hour - 9.679 Alpha -20.513 Nauti- 21.353
I caught Lunny lurking suspiciously in the Creery end carpark trying to sneak in a sail without paying his entry fees. By the time I got into the water, Lunny had knocked out enough k’s to earn some serious frequent flyer points. The wind was highish teens with some decent gusts, but much better overall than Wednesday. Not having Ratz there to advise me on what not to rig, and having been so overdone with sail size on Wednesday, I took the flowery blouse option today and went for the Ka Koncept 6.6 and FangyFin24. I was still overdone at times and would have been better on a smaller board. In the end that did not matter because for some reason my asthma really kicked in when I hit the cold water after I had stopped to adjust a few things. I tried a couple of runs, and while it was good fun smashing small sharp chop downhill on the Barge, by the time I had done on a run, I was panting like I had finished a marathon. I went back in and emptied enough Ventolin into my lungs to float a hot air balloon. This was a help but I just couldn't quite shake the tightness. Thus in an unexplained fit of rare commonsense, I then called it quits before I ended up being a navigational hazard. I watched Shane and Lunny put in some nice bear-aways, which had me wishing I had Firie’s professional creepy old guy stalking camera lens to get some pictures while the sun was out; they both looked great when they hit the flattish stuff at the same time as a gust. Lunny came in to show that when you hit the sound barrier on a windsurfer, the shockwave will peel off the paint from the bottom of the board. Either that or he used his kids K-mart water colours paint set on the last repair job. So with Lunny crippled by having to use some board that was not equipped for speeds over a mega gazillion km/h, I decided it was only fair that I packed up and did not further compound his embarrassing slowness. Having said that, by the time I left, Lunny had ‘rolled over’ the odometer on his GPS and was still going like the machine he is.
Top Ten Fangy day, except for my lungs: they were completely crap.

Stretch (30716km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU GPS6/CA52/Choco30. Love it when you get to sneak a sail in that wasnt planned for. Got home at lunchtime after a week in Vic.. Tomorrow I hit the bush for a 2 week mbike camping trip, so this arvo was my only chance for a sail for a while and for once the wind cooperated . Choppy conditions, scary at times, but still good fun (after not dying...). Sailing with Dave and his mate from One more Knot (Busso) | ||||||||||||||||||
