Monday 31st July – windsurf ***** The Manor ( Landguard carpark) sunny periods

24.66 kt. max., 23.40 kt. ave., 16.86 kt. hr., 22.18 kt. mile, 51.3 km., 16.36 kt. alpha.

Not as windy as yesterday but nice and sunny, with the wind WSW I headed down to the free carpark at Landguard which was fairly busy with the Suffolk wildlife trust running something for kids on the beach:) Rigged big as yesterday and it was a little patchy to start it filled in and I had great fun blasting out to the Wadgate Post. The wind then turned SW and I went for a full – on broad reach for three and a half miles to the moored coaster, the ‘ wijnne barend ‘ I was even gybing the big board which makes a change as it’s not the easiest board to turn! I then beat back turning really close to the new and very smart pier:) I went for another mile run reaching 24.66 kts before heading back to Landguard for a sandwich after being out over two hours:) Just love this big combination, the 8.5 not once overpowered!

The wind seemed to have dropped so I packed up and headed home to see how Mag had got on having a tooth out!

BBQ at the Hurrells tomorrow, Linda’s 65th birthday celebration – just can’t believe it, where did those years go??? Then loads of wind coming later in the week, might even make it to Southend!

PS – it’s been a good month with 9 sessions covering 413.4 km best month of the year:)

Gary said big board/small sail better than small board/big sail so rigged 96tri/4.7m. Nice shoulder + waves to ride down and smaller ones to get out through so conditions were manageable. Once OK jump and tried front riding a few times but not too good. Figuring it out again.
