Melville Beach, WA, AU

Been a while since a fun session was had at Melville. Good to see Ricey, JJ, Boz, Anita, Jeff and others. Took out the wave gear and was fully powered up in the squalls until 1pm when the wind went westerly and dropped.

3.5 Blade, 80 wave board, 16 twin fins.

Got there when the wind was howling and the rain bucketing, I was going to say down, but bucketing sideways would be a better description.

Got into wet suit then rigged up my smallest sail, a 5.0, worried that it was way too big. It was for 10 minutes then the wind reduced, so it was good in the gusts but not enough in the lulls, of which there were plenty.

Changed from 80l to 105l board which was a big help. Nevertheless did not sail very far, although it felt like it.

Good to see Anita, Boz, JJ, Kenny, and Jeff at the end.

Gusts to 30 knots - good fun in the whiteouts. Too gusty to complete a NM.

Great to catch up with Anita, Nick, Ricey, Jeff and Ken.

Not a top 10 Melville day

Early on - mental wind, big chop and rolling swell, whiteout conditions. I decided it was madness to sail in that and waited for the rain to ease. Of course the wind eased as well, and I ended up being rigged for cyclonic conditions but only getting 15 knots. More hard work than good fun on the small gear in the gusty conditions, so I called it a day early. Then the wind picked up again didn't it?

Positives -  a solid turnout of Pinnaroos for a work day and good to catch up with my buddies again

good to have wind on a day off from work

I did get a good workout with no injuries

Melville Beach,  afternoon shift. I turned up and everyone went home. is there something your not telling me?

good putt around with only a few other sailors, none of that looking before turning needed.

112, 6.3 ka race, 28 weedy

smaller fin felt really odd, good for me to have to start thinking about the load on the fin again, the 34 never lets go so I think I get bad habits.

Very similar numbers, JJ and Boz! Tough conditions.
