Sunday 1st October – windsurfing *** The Dip - cloudy

27.54 kt. max, 24.56 kt. ave., 4.34 kt. hr., 16.37 kt. mile, 12 km., 6.94 kt. alpha.

Toyed with Southend and even thought about West Kirby as I haven’t been there since 2011, but mag and I have been full of cold all week so decided to stay local. Arrived at The Dip at ten with Al already out with 5m with several others deciding what sail to rig? As these were not my favourite conditions small board, small sail but Craig persuaded me to rig 5.6 and go out on the 282 as the wind was up and down. As it had just started to lightly rain I put my wetsuit on first then rigged. Even with the tide still fairly high it was easy to get off the beach. There was a nice swell until you reached the river mouth where it roughed up and was amazed when I checked the gps that I had made 27 knots as didn’t seem overly window! I was struggling with my grip in the autumn suit and the cold was taking its toll so I headed in. There was a really good turnout enjoying the bump and jump. I had a few more runs but was feeling weak and the sea was becoming all but unsailable further out so I called it a day. If I was feeling fitter I would have rigged 6.5 and carried on but decided to call it a day. Sailing not brilliant for me but great to catch up with loads of mates:)
