Ant-man (13085km): Coal Point, NSW, AU. 6.6 Hucker 110 Naish then 5.6 Hucker 90 Naish. Another cracka of a B & J session off Coalie. Tried the sand islands with Andy but super low tide, variable wind and pointer fin made it not worth it. A few out later (Andy, Scotty, Les, and a couple of unknowns), surprised there wasn't more but I hear they were at Marmong
Andrew Haigh (48951km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Isonic 90 and 7.0. Pretty much a repeat of last Friday. Fully powered up with the 7.0, but still nothing much happening at the islands.

Bruce Healey (24088km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU wow, daggy forecast but Pete said there was wind & he ought know. Pete out for a while but mainly Tibor & I all alone for about two hours till Mike, then Paul B & Matt D having a go at the end. Sunny, warm, beautiful breeze, makes you glad not to be dead. RS2, 7m, 25 weedy.
sboardcrazy (24363km): 15-24kts E Marmong Point, NSW, AU new 6.2m OD - 90ltre RS2 - 28 Maui ultra weedy then79ltre Falcon then back to the RS2 Well today wasn't quite the cruisey session I'd planned after being told yesterday that my shoulder was still inflamed and I should take it easy.. Rolled up at Coal pt to see Tony flying and doing some killer gybes.. He said it was very strong and big out in the middle so I retreated to Marmong for a more sedate session. The RS2 was scarily big in the chop so after a few runs I changed down to the falcon..more skittery but much better! Took it easy and didn't try and gybe up the top as I wasn't sure how deep it was. Started getting patchy so I thought it was safe to take the big board out again..Of course the biggest gust of the day came through and I was flying on the edge of control ( 2 sec here)..unhooked to gybe and the rig got ripped out of my hands and I had to swim for the gear. I'd forgotten what a pain cammed sails can be waterstarting.. 1st off the mast pointed down to the bottom then the cams wouldn't pop the right way up ( I'm a weakling at the moment ). After a bit of swiming around I got going and decided to call it a day and leave something in the tank for tomorrow at Budgy... I like the 6.2m OD...Funny James came in and siad 6.2m? How did you hang onto that I was thinking of rigging a 6.6m.. I thought whaat?? lol's.. lucky I didn't realise it was bigger than my old 6m or I would have been psyched out.. A 5.6m would have been nice but I don't have one.. I must admit it was fun and I'm still buzzing. I think that's the first time I've been out in chop with over 20kts of wind for over a year? ( what with injuries etc ). Gert , Dave , James ( foiling then slalom) a few longboarders/ or beginners and a kiter..James was flying when I left. Cripes if I was reading 15 - 22kts on the shore at Marmong( more in the middle ) Coal Pt must have been feral! Starting to sieze up now but so far the shoulder is hanging in. I better get some ice onto it.
James Farley (12642km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet RS6, Mauisails Legend 4.2, NP RS Flight AL Foil Exocet RS4, TR8 6.6, JP 38 Wind ENE 15-25 knots Really good to be back on the water. Third time since green island. Today was probably the nicest and strongest nor-easter I've sailed at Marmong - overpowered at times on the 6.6. Had some fun on the foil with tiny sail - some longer glides and a few times where everything was silent and balanced. Hopefully will have it nailed by end of summer. Peak speed on foil was 16 knots but felt a lot faster. Good to sail with John, Gert, Sue and Cluffy. Hope everyone is able to enjoy this week of wind.
Tibor (17501km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU How good was that! Amazingly just a few of us out there...Used the 7m with the 87L and a 25cm old weedy! |
