Eckers (12204km): Late, late afternoon sail from Berkeley, lapping over to Primbee and back in a late-peaking moderate seabreeze. Hung around PKSC for some of it watching my son do some rafting with his scouting mates... On the XXL gear again, Starboard Freeformula 158, Drake 70cm pointer, Ezzy Infinity 9.5. An oldy but a goody - responds beautifully to the adjustable outhaul to manage overpowered conditions. ...and it was overpowered with gusts of 22 knots recorded on the Holfuy weather station - no wonder the 9.5 was a handful at times. Did an awesome bunny-hop without even requiring chop when the fin just kept flexing, the board kept railing and the whole shebang took flight like a foil board! I wish somebody got that on camera because I managed to land it successfully!

bushfire (26346km): Kanahooka, NSW, AU NE up to 15 knots or so FOIL A short sail after work. I decided to give the NP RS One Convertible a spin , with the SV 7.8m. Wow, so different than my normal setup! I struggled to find a good balance point - I felt it was very back foot biased. More time tuning the board/foil combo would produce a better setup - oh well. The foil felt very stiff which was good for an alu mast and seem to go up wind at a good angle. Downwind was hard to keep it balanced so I was not able to extract good speed from it. All in all an interesting (short) session. Thanks to Sam at WSnS for the use of the demo board NP RS One, SV Reflex R8 7.8m, NP RS One Foil |
