Melville Beach, WA, AU

Brushed the rat poo off the Wright Designs speed slalom from 1985. It was easy to sail relatively quick but didn't seem to sit up on the fin like the Magic Ride. It was pretty choppy maybe that had something to do with it, maybe because the board has a lot of water in it and is pretty heavy, maybe I should have used a bigger sail, maybe I'm not fit enough yet... I don't know, still a lot to learn about this new-fangled speed sailing.

Wright Designs speed slalom, 5.0 NP Search, some sort of cheap Select 28 weedy.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Easing back into sailing with the foot still under repair, rigged small just to be on the safe side, was all good apart from when I would hit a bit of chop then I noticed the foot is still not 100% hard to put any pressure on the board but great to be on the water blasting around. All in a fun litlle session with a few familiar faces around.

Coodanup, WA, AU

Another outing to the land (or rather water) of green carpet, only the carpet has shrunk. Not sure if it was the high tide or the weed is dispersing.

Quite a few out for a weekday, good fun!

Melville Beach, WA, AU 54 Manta, 4.9 Koncept 18 Kestral then 23 tribal weedy

Challenging sailing today. Gusty - 11 - 23 knots on the beach as I was rigging, and very choppy. Whitecaps right up to the beach early on. I was feeling very lacklustre so I went small, which proved to be enough in the gusts but not enough for downwind speed. I did a lot of experimenting trying to get comfortable on the Manta today, eventually moving the front strap forward which helped a lot with "sending it" downwind. The Kestral fin didn't have enough acceleration but it held on beautifully in the sizeable chop, not letting go once. The Tribal fin had much better acceleration and upwind ability. All my peak speeds were 27's but as the wind was dropping and the speeds were staying the same, I guess the overall perfomance improved.

Boz was out there testing his broken foot (against advice) and was hobbling a lot more afterwards than before. Jeff's plans to join Lunny at Coodanup were stymied but he made it to the river. Tailwind and Chris Porter turned up late as the wind was fading.

A bit of excitement this afternoon when the police attended looking for a lost sailor whose rig had washed up further down the beach. The police boat was out searching. I am not sure if they found who they were looking for, but the boat didn't stay around long, so probably yes.

Safety Bay, WA, AU. Tide too high for the run, so just blasting around. Gusty as anything, and messy chop, made it a handful. Started on the SP47 + 5kg lead, but soon found the wind wasn't there so came in after 30 mins or so. Put on the Isonic 86 and took the lead off.
Same 2s peak on Isonic as the SP47 which were both just little squirts near the bottom of the bar. Not worth running the kite gauntlet today when the wind wasn't fully nuking. One run out to Pengos but it was super choppy out there, and thought I'd break something, so came back in to the kids area.

Nice to blow away work brain with a hard sess! Cool

CA SP47 (Few runs with 5kg lead for the alpha) Iso 86sl (my waterlogged old friend), KAR 6.3, MXR 22 then Tribal 29

Melville, Mistral 112, KA 5.5 Race, great in the gusts , a little small the rest of the time. Good to get out, had planned a Fangies trip but work and my own disorganisation meant I thought I wouldnt have enough time.

Great session, Lunny, almost the same distance as last week. Super alpha, and good numbers all round. That would have to be a good entry for the fangtastic five.

Boz, good speed for a broken foot! I hope you haven't done too much damage and set back the healing process.

Remery, congratulations on scoring a PB in very challenging conditions. You went much faster than I did today.

Lovely alpha backup Jake, Verrry nice, and an excellent nm for choppy ocean too. I heard it was pretty wild down there today.

Pinnaroos back in 3rd position!

Glad to hear you're on the mend Boz and back amongst it.

Good to see you at Fangy's Craig. I reckon the "weed" is actually just a massive algal bloom and that why its blowing away so quickly now
