Bluff's Landing, Corpur Christi, TX. First time there .. should have gone earlier! Started with 3S96 & 4.7 wave sail to check out the new spot, but it was so nice & flat in 25 knot averages that I had to get the speed gear out (W54 & RB5.6). Only got two run out and one run back in before Nina noticed that a batten was broken. Sailed back in (still beating my old NM PB by more than a knot!) and switched back to the freeride gear for some nice & easy sailing.

What a great spot! In SSE like today, BIB gets unpleasant - you hammer into the chop on the way out, and into the back of it coming back in, with lots of cross chop and no really flat area. Bluff's Landing in CC was much nicer - a bit less chop, and the chop was much better organized, with very little cross chop and a much better direction. Going upwind was easy, going back was wicked fun, picking a path between the 1 ft little waves. I beat my old NM PB by almost 2 knots on the first run in! I did not even explore much, had too much fun. About 5 mph more wind than yesterday, but instead of feeling tired, I feel refreshed. Maybe the beers at the Lazy Beach Brewing Company and Padre Island Burger Company helped!

Big thanks to Many Miles Mike for making us sail there, and coming to explain what to watch for (and taking pictures).

Nicely done Peter! Crushed that PB! Sounds like a Lake George "warm-up" to me! Cool

Thanks, guys. I was hoping to break 30 after the first run went so well, but the sail was quite a bit slower after the batten broke (top speed 29.5 instead of 31.8 knots). Since I was well powered on the 5.6 and quite tired from sailing the two days before, I did not want to switch to the 6.3, and the 5.0 would have been too small. Besides, the freeride gear was still right there, and soooo easy to sail - sometimes, going slower is fun, too.

I'm looking forward to sailing with both of you in Hatteras in a few weeks!
