started 12-20kts then prob 15-30kts later
6.6m KA Koncept - 87ltre iso - 18FF
then 6.6m KA - RS4 - 24FF 1 run
then 6.2m OD - 87ltre - 18FF 1 run then 19cm carbon delta
Well I wasn't expecting much but it exceeded my expectations and was pretty dismal..Best part of today was getting home..
The guys seemed to be eating it up though..
Most stacks today than for ages.. felt like a total gumby..Went out with the 6.6m on the 87 and 18 FF.. Hit by a big gust as I entered the flats and went over the front when I ran aground because I wasn't planing ...up to 20kts in the chop but 5kts with gusts of 20kts in the flats..I couldn't get upwind very well so I decided to change to a bigger board and fin . The plan was to stay out of the flats and have fun..
By the time I got out again I was getting very overpowered in the gusts with the 6.6m and after being backwinded and dumped decided to rig the 6.2m on it and come back out..
Rigged the 6.2m and decided to give the 87ltre and 18cm another go..big spinout and stack and had to swim for the gear so back in again . I wanted to use the 20cm FF but I'd left it at home so fitted what used to be my favourite delta ( although I've never used it in the isonics)..Back out.. mega gusts.. board getting lifted out of the water..
Massive one came through in the flats and the rig and board with me connected got lifted what felt like 4' in the air and dumped..Pete had his 5m on and said it hit him and he struggled and looked to see what happened when it got me.. He said he wasn't enjoying it ..
Decided to try and get back in one piece and call it a day.. Pity as the gust weren't that long but it was fun if you got one in the flats..Still trying to find a fin that survives the chop and stronger winds and is shallow enough for the flats.. LG has spoiled me..
