Best session ever!!!!
A big call with a hurt foot and an hour of chugging at the start.
We got down to Franks at around 1330 and the wind was in, after much fluffing around I hit the water at 1430 and the wind was almost none existant, so I chugged +2km up wind to where the Stroppo was, on the way I had a curious dolphin swim the slowest I'd ever seen one swim as it swam on it side under my board sussing me and my foil out, twas pretty cool.
Wobble gybed in front of Liptons and decided to sacrifice myself by going back and calling it quits as Huey seems to like a quitter. So after another 30mins of chugging we were pretty much straight out from the parking spot when there was a hint of a zephyr, so went a bit further and wobbled another gybe, a couple of minutes later after some very enthusiastic pumping, flight was achieved, it wasn't graceful or pretty, a bit like a stoned cocky but we were flying.
Thus it started, good breeze for the next hour, doing runs up past the first channel marker at Liptons down past the sand bar markers in Dawesville, nice 3.5km legs, got 6 of those puppies in, the estuary south of the sand bar markers was looking so tempting but just didn't trust the wind so chickened out.
At the end of the session my back was starting to give me grief but got sucked in for one last run, gybed the couldn't for the life of me get on the foil, in hind sight I think I must have collected some weed or something, struggling to get going I blew out my arms, when I eventualy ungainly got up on the foil Stropp sails past nice and close so I F'cked up and went over the front unfortuntely my front foot decided it realy wanted to stay in the footstrap whilst I was over the front of the board which resulted in much merriment and grinding for me.
More struggling to get going and more importantly to get the 1km back downwind, just to make things more interesting the wind picked upsome more.
Had a crash course in getting the board to go downwind 3 in fact, including another one with the same foot stuck in the footstrap again just to make sure I was aware of the first incident, but downwind I did go. One last tack and I was back at base.
Quick discussion with the Stroppy fella and even with the trials and tribulations it was still concluded "As the best session ever".
Good to see Stretch and Slugger flying around on their slappers (gives an idea on wind strength at the end)
Realy happy with the RSX MWS foil, so much easier to control, makes me look almost proficient.
Good times
