Captain skip bogan (50090km):
2202 days ago Action packed day as usual. Massive wind and rain squalls on the way down gave Sam some exciting times at the wheel.
After finally getting there we met up with Daffy and decided best launch was the spit. Arrived to an angry lake and weed beds everywhere.
Rigged the 5m and the jp 45 speed board and decided to try the Techart 18. Watched Daffy on his 1st run out and looked like he was smoking in and he managed a 45 knot peak - well done mate .
First couple of runs the 18 felt real small and could feel the board heading sideways. Headed up to the weed beds and locked in as high as i could go into flat water and beared away with a feel of weed grabbing at the fin. Next minute i am picked up and thrown - body still in tact. Checked gear and found a broken harness line - ripped off and the worse bent boom i have seen - broke during my peak of the day.
Headed in to shore to borrow back the small boom i gave Sam to find it is poor condition. Had to use Chinook boom with long rope on the back end and fitted the Vector weed speed 23 and back in business.
By this time the wind had dropped back but managed anorther couple of runs. The wind was gusty so spent alot of time in the weed trying to water start with the weed to the top. Probably the last sesh till October but never say never...
PS Good to catch up with Daffy again .
Lake George - 20 to 40.
Jp speed 45 / 5m gun sails GSR / Techart 18 weedy / Vector 23 weed speed.
