Joined Swindy at S. Yunderup, high tide and wind all over the place. Looked like enough wind for the 5.4 though so plugged that into the new 48. Also looked like enough wind for the Swoody 18, I wasn't sure about it in the chop, but decided it needed a test anyway.

Also had the ublox/openlogger to try out. It's a very tight fit in the paqua-midi and the unit on my head is a bit restricted, so I had the GW52 on my head the logger on my upper right arm and the watch on my right wrist.

First run out was upwind, and the fin spun out when I hit a biggish chop and got a small air, very hard to bring back in, but eventualy I was back under control. Board had a fair amount of yaw heading into the wind, but as long as the tail of the board was in the water, there was no problem. I decided that I'd be better off with a longer fin in the chop, so headed back downwind to base. This was a fun run mainly just surfing the chop, occasionaly going over the back of one or two. But just as I reached shore a massive gust came through, snatched the sail out of my hand, still holding the board by the back strap, I went to recover the sail, but then the board got snatched out of my hand as well, and the rig went flying off downwind. Changed my mind about changing fins, and went in instead.

We decided it was probably time to look at Fangys, small mob there but only Boz out, didn't look any flatter and I was getting cold, so just gave up for the day. And came home and checked the logger results, looks good, mainly inbetween the GW52 and the watch.

3 comparrisons ublox and GWs

from left to right, watch, GW52, ublox/openlogger. The logger accuracy numbers look a little better than both the GWs

I'm looking forward to better conditions when I can try alphas with it.

South Yunderup, WA, AU   Pat SL92, SCR6.3, BP WS custom 50deg 27

Wanted to see if south yunderup was do able with such a high tide, answer is yes in up to 25 knots. Though far from flat its not a bad chop to sail in and the short sail I had was very enjoyable. Mike came down to keep me company and took the small swoody out for a spin. Not the best conditions for something so small but seemed to behave quite well considering and in the flat will probably be awesome.

Glad the logger worked well Mike

Boundary Island, Peel Estuary, WA, AU

That was fun. Very windy when it was, but up and down.  Procratinated on sail choice for ages and went with the 5.0  after taking some advice.  Plugged that in to my missile. Speeds where not what I hoped and I spent the first half of the session just trying to beat my speeds from my last session on the big slalom board and the 7.3 (which I forgot to clear from the watch).  Eventually managed to get a couple runs a little better but not a lot. Like most I couldn't line anything up in the smooth so got my best runs through the middle of the channel.  Had a heap of fun trying though and so good to see some many others out having a go.  I think that is the most company I have sailed with in ages, certainly the most this year.

F2 Missile small, Severn 5.0 proto.

Good stuff fellas and no risk of any 'Pond' mischief with long lenses at Yunderup Foot in mouth. The logger is looking promising indeed Mike Cool. Good numbers Rog, especially the nauti compared to your peaks. (Not too shabby alpha either)
