Monday 23rd July – windsurf ** The Dip - Felixstowe – sunny and hot

Fanatic Cat with Tushingham Lightning 9.4

12.96 knot max., 10.47 knot ave., 5.64 knot hour, 8.63 knot mile, 10.50 km., 7.02 knot alpha.

Another day that promised so much again failed to deliver:( The forecast first thing was 15 to 20 late afternoon and the wind did steadily rise during the day but peaked at about 12 knots but it was yet another hot and sunny day, will this weather never end, could definitely do with some rain! Had a nice day in the garden then after lunch decided to take the trailer for a ride to The Dip as David Coles was heading down. It was low water but sadly the wind was not looking promising but good direction for a longboard cruise so rigged 9.4 on the raceboard while David went for 9.6 with his foil and formula board. I set off on a beat towards the Docks and even got in the beating straps briefly but the wind dropped at Jacobs ladder and never really returned. I made it to The Manor Martello before reaching back, slowly. I was in the harness all the way just but just not windy enough, David was slow planning on his expensive foil set-up in what is ideal foiling winds. The jury is still out for me and foiling, I would love to give a try but can I justify the big expense??? That looks like it for wind for a week unless we get some lucky sea breezes!!!
