2090 days ago Patchy as 5-25kts NNW - NW Peel st Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU water level 0.32
6.6m KA - 80ltre iso- 20cm FF
then 87ltre iso - 20cm FF
Very unrewarding session.
Rigged the 7.5m and RS4 but Nigel went out on his 7.3m and it came in ('mental") so I rerigged. Bad choice of board - good in the gusts but subplaning a lot. Hardwork getting up to the top and then overpowered ( for my level of fitness in the gusts ) and struggling in the lulls..only did one bearaway..Of course the wind died for the trip back downwind.
Had lunch and then back out with the 87. I thought the 20cm might be a bit small and I did do one long spinout ( 1st with a FF) although i was sailing like a sack of spuds..
Board was better in the 5kt lulls but a 6.2m would have been nice in the gusts. Pity as it was nice and flat and weeedbergs.. if only we had WNW and consistent it could have been epic... 20 cms was too big to gybe in the E end. ( not powered up enough).
My lack of fitness really showed today..a lot of out of the harness sailing due to the patchiness and my arms didn't handle it at all well.. I need to do some weights or something to build myself up or I'm going to wreck the muscles in my forearms..
Note to self - don't wear your 3-4-5mm wettie when it's 25 degrees..I boiled!
Only Nigel, Matt & I at first and I think we got the most consistent ( although it was all working up to the top and was pretty sketchy once up there.)
Lots out later - Mick , Matt, and a lot of others
