Melville Beach, WA, AU

Nice session today even caught up with JJ out on the sand bank, few turned up to enjoy fairly consistant winds for Melville, still bumpy on the outside but a lot of fun avoiding the mini waves

Chilly but fun. Typical westerly, did a few runs in the middle, took a trip up to pt Walter and decided to call it a day when the temp dropped again.

Grey gloomy and gusty but not too cold with plenty of rubber. Fitness training

I had a look at Melville after work and decided it looked OK, so I went home to get my wetsuit and returned later. Nearly everyone had gone by then, but Slowboat and Jesper were having drag races out the back.

The wind was mostly only 15 knots with some 25 kn squalls thrown in. I played tag with the big boys - I came in during the squalls when they went out, and then I went out in the lulls when they came in. That was enough for my current level of unfitness. The wind went WNW which made for some nice runs down the swell lines. No great speed but pleasant enough, and it all helps the fitness to return.

Oh, for some warmth and sunshine! Roll on summer!

Sure Jon.... but my fin was too big, my straps were too tight , boom was too low, I had too much outhaul, harness lines were set wrong, my mast wasn't the right colour,...and i had a headache.

Nice run Jon.

Awesome river naughty JJ, and good backup from Windtech.

Boz, you are getting those river speeds dialled in. Great 2 sec. handy distance and alpha too.

Windtech put in another very impressive river hour in not very friendly conditions. I hope someone gave that the backup it deserved.

Hi Dave, at this stage the wings are a bit of a fun project. They are quite time consuming to make so not really a commercially viable project unless they can be molded in a low cost country. Doing them in two pieces is a tricky process and you have to get them set perfectly or they don't work correctly.

Anyway I digress. I can put a winglet on one of your fins if you like. I've done this for a few people including JJ who gave me a fairly poorly performing G10 Vector that I massaged a bit and fixed a wing to the base. His NM in serious chop shows that they certainly don't slow the process down. (They may even help?  Wink )

The only thing is I'm not sure how they will peform on other makes of boards and rockers, so can't guarantee performance.

If you have a fin you would like me to add a wing to , let me know ,and for a few bags of gold I can 'glue' one on.

cheers, Neil

Good to see you got out there Anita. After you went home tp pick up your gear the temperature plummeted. I didn't think you'd go out.

Nice work that was pretty hard core. Smile

Thanks Neil. Melville certainly looked like a different place than it had an hour earlier, notably the lack of sailors. Fortunately I had changed into my wettie at home, so I was nice and toasty and didn't notice the temperature drop.
