Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Well, that was a relatively unexpected sail in the Wallow Pit. By relatively, I mean the unexpected wind strength at times. Awesome. Started off with 15 ish kts and built to 20 kts in the second hour. B2 and Fred joined in the arvo delights. B2 holding down his new 2nd hand 8.6 and spent a heap of time heading up wind for survival and Freddo was flying kites on his 117 Wide Isonic - like I said, what turned up was not expected. Started of being very easterly and as she built up it was a very nice SE in the end. Both of the lads looked like they had a bit of fun, until B2 calculated the damaged done to his boom on arrival back at the beach....straight to the "use only in a case of emergancy" bin.

Very happy with my NM in those conditions and just couldnt control my urge to abort on my 2 sec runs - Dinner plate eyeballs were all the rage today!!!

Hope tomorrows forecast of 25 kts is down graded, cause it will be rough as guts out there.

HOLLOWAYS BEACH with Benny and Billy (B1& B2)....brought out  the Isonic 117 and Switchblade 7.3 for the 'lighter' conditions.Undecided

The first run or 2 were great.....board and sail were under control but soon as the wind picked up so did the sea surface and my board

...it was doing its own thing again. Got back and decided to call it a day.....nothing broken but a little disappointed.

Billy on the other hand had a good afternoon and sailed well although came in with eyes like a goldfish but very happy with himself.Cool

Benny, full marks for holding an 8.6 o/drive and should had taken home the choclates but took home a bent boom instead.Yell

Met 'Peter' a guy on the beach from Tassie and says he will be out tomorrow for a sail.....forecast looks promising!!

Good afternoon and great company.

Fun little arvo sail with B1 & Freddo.  Lighter winds on arrival, so decided to rig the newly acquired 8.6 Severne OD with the ol' Exo 135 board & BP 47.5 fin.  Enjoyable sailing for the first 40mins or so.  Wind started to pick up a bit, so went back to base and switched out the Exo for the Futura 122.  The rest of the session was rough as guts with the wind really ramping up especially out wide.  Found it tough holding on to the bigger sail (really didn't think the wind would come in like it did).  Should have rigged a smaller sail when swapping boards, but felt time was of the essence- could have got away with a 7m or smaller I reckon!  Hindsight's such a beautiful thingy...

Plenty of sailing boats out today with the peeps onboard yahooing encouragement in passing.  Had the Futura tail walking at times- just way overpowered & in full survival mode...  Was trying to dodge the swell & succeeded most times, however, hit some big swell at one point catching plenty of air and landing badly- may well have ended up on send it Sunday if we had some footage!!  Now nursing a tender twisted left ankle (note to self: tighten the footstraps on the Futura!)

Bit disappointed with the 2sec as there were actually a few little opportunities to really lock down and hang on... shitty hour due to too much time in the drink.  Satisfied with the naughty (on the Exo) considering the conditions...  As for the Jibing attempts today, as Maxwell Smart would say, missed em by that much!

Got back to base to wash down the gear and noticed my boom had a pretty decent bend in it- Arghhhh, it'll be back to the back up boom whilst on the hunt for a replacement.  Maybe it's now time for a carbon model...

B1 got the chocolates today- nice numbers mate! (getting in some early training for the GI Nats next year I see)  I think Freddo also went in to survival mode in the second half of the session...

All in all, just great to get back out on the water!  Bloody love it!!  "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!!!" Laughing

It was fun Ed.

Nice write up's B2 and Fred - despite the unexpected blow, it was very nice to see you guys out there blowing out the cob webs.

Alright, alright, alright... if I must be completely honest B1 & Freddo, I actually hit the swell on purpose in passing one of the sailing boats...  The take off was glorious!  The landing was horrendous... Innocent  Perhaps this was the moment of boom bending... Yell

Hey Benny there is carbon Niell Pryde boom at my place that needs some bits for the boom clamp. Andrew owns it. Think it might be forsale for not to much cash. Give him a call. 👍

Ed, I think Benny would be far happier with Andrew's new Enigma. Maybe you could put that up for sale Wink.

B2, me thinks the only thing that could possibly have come out of that act of sensationalism, was only ever going to be damage....to you and your equipment. Well done on fessing up though, that was indeed brave Tongue out.
