iS110(2013), 7.8 RBlade, 38 Tribal Sl - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU 12 -18 SE

Got down at 2.30 and thought I may have insulted Huey - it was 6knots and very calm after being solid for most the day..  Started derigging my 6.3, 7.0 and then started on the 7.8 but a little gust piqued my interest.  Stayed around and the wind built back in nicely.  On the water around 3.30 / off it at 4.30.  Had forgotten just how fking slippery the deck of the iS110 was too - made for some challenging gybes but happy I didn't drop the rig in the water once.  Pretty happy with my numbers too.

Burrum Heads, QLD, AU

114 Falcon / 7.8 M1 OD / Tribal 35 WS

Crappy weather on Gold Coast so we made a last minute decision to go to Burrum for a couple of days. Rained off and on most of the way up and didn't look real promising when we got here. Rigged the big gear and headed over to the northern run. Marginal tide so only a couple of sections of the bank were out at low tide. After a squall passed through to the north the sky cleared and it ended up being an enjoyable sail. Wind filled in late but tide was well in by then.

A session in Latte Land to wish Ed a Happy Birthday. And by session I do mean stand around and get stuck into the odd latte or two and have a yarn. It really wasnt working for us today. Squally, wet and periods of nothingness but for about an hr, between 3 and 4 pm, it was wild to dial in nothingness and the runs had to be timed or you swam home. Great turn out with Jimmy Drinnen and Ian Bally dropping in with a visit from the mountain, B2 and Andrew P. Missed ya Freddo....The wind was all over the place from SW to E, but when it was on, it was on. The SW breeze really flattened out the incoming swell which was just sensational.

B2 found a sand bar at full tilt and had a crack at a very (dis)graceful dismount Laughing, I managed to blow out a panel in my R4 (fixable) and poor Doc Ian got caught out wide when the breeze dropped out to zip and never return, hence a 30 min swim back to the beach.

Used: "Tinaroo Tank" AHD 140 Diamond, 7.8 OD R4, 47 SRide.

Used Isonic 117 and Aerotech 7.5 sto start off with then changed down to Futura 90  and Aerotech 6M until the wind completely dropped out and I swam for over half an hour after breaking a harness line. Good catching up with Billy, Ben, Andrew, Birthday Ed, and James.

4 Mile Beach, Port Douglas, QLD, AU

Arvo get together in Latte land for young Ed the "Fox"'s Birthday!  Present were B1, Ian, James, Andrew & the birthday boy Ed of course Cool

Bugger all wind on arrival...  The teabaggers were packing up very early which was a worrying sign of things to come...  But we rigged up anyways in the hope of something, anything really...  Andrew straddled a bent Palm tree on the beach and used some really big intellectual words which in hindsight may have been a good alternative approach of a prayer to the wind gods...  And it actually worked to some degree.

Ian and I sacrificed ourselves by walking our rigs over the first sand bar on low tide only to wait for a good half hour or so in the murky waters for the first decent squall to come through.  When it finally arrived, it was on for young and old! (for about 30mins or so)  B1 timed his water entry perfectly and we were all off- "High Ho, Silver Away!"  GPS read a 27.4 on the first run out without even trying on the new addition to the kit bag- Futura 124 "Big Woody" (although I noticed it dialled back a touch more than a knot).  That was when the water was at it's best- nice and flat with a solid breeze...  Probably about a 3 minute window until the ocean started to churn up.  One thing now I know needs doing straight up with the new board is shifting the back foot straps to the outer settings...

Wind was very shifty- to be expected I guess for the conditions.  Had a less than gracious dismount heading back to the beach when the fin encountered the sand bar- still pondering whether B1 & Ed were doing the ol' stand on your knees trick as they both seemed to have big smiles at the time... Wink Also got flung over/through the handlebars during a decent squall shortly afterwards, which has resulted in a decent bump on the shin around the size of an extra large yamagishi egg...

Think everyone got a few nice runs in so it ended up being a great little bit of fun with good company! Cool  Although, we were all missing Freddo in action today...
