Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Decided to head to the local mud pit with B1 for a late arvo sail.  Wind looked to be just enough on arrival, but as we were rigging up, the wind started to rapidly drop right off.  Being glass half full, I decided to just get on the board and head out further to check things out.  And very happy to have done so.  Once out into the blue, the wind kicked back in a little and there was a definite wind line with enough puff to be up and scooting around.  Ended up being a suprisingly fun little session.

Wind actually picked up some more after 4pm coming in more onshore so fortunately I was able to sail nearly all the way back to point on the plane.

Spotted a couple of anchored floating pontoons a fair way out from the creek mouth with quite a few buoys scattered around them...  Beware if you are out sailing around near these as the buoys have some pretty heavy duty floating ropes attached to them.

B1, I think it is fair to say one will never be able to figure out the weather...

Used "Big Woody" Futura 124, Severne OD 8.6, Venom 48

Fortune does tend to favour the bold B2. It was a treat to see you out the back and on the horizon making the most of what was available. I just couldnt be bothered dredging out there.....Well done mate.

Thanks Billy. I'll be sure to wear biodegradable boardies so the crocks don't get indigestion.

Hi guys. I'm heading up your way in three weeks and would like some advice on spots to sail. This is a family holiday and we're staying in Palm Cove so I'll be ducking out for 2-3 hours stints when the wind kicks in. From what I can tell: SE every glorious day, the spots are Yorkeys Knob and Holloways Beach and then Green Is if I can get away for a full day. Any tips for visitors like where to rig up so I can come say g'day, tide issues, any sneaky sand bars, crap pot havens or anything else like that? I've fairly new to the game (2 years) but keen to get out and explore the area. Rob

Rob, on the way up to Cairns Bowens a nice place to sail if there's some SE wind, some pics of main beach from couple of years ago. You can also sail at Queen's Beach in a NE which came in as well last year in mid July.

Looks brilliant. If I can get away a day early, I'll stop by for a session.
