Melville Beach, WA, AU iS111, 6.2 koncept 24FF

I couldn't face the long trek through the crab gauntlet at Fangy's today so I settled for Melville. It was very on/off, but fun in the sun. Good to catch up with the crew down there.

I am still working on improving my gybes and tacks. I did one really smooth planing gybe that I was very happy with. The minimum speed was only just under 10 knots, with a peak of 21, but alas it was too wide. I also made progress with the quick tacks. I am slowly getting there.

Went to Melville first and even the foilers were giving up so decided to try the ocean.

Nicely powered on the 7.0

Peel Inlet, WA, AU

Was hoping for abit more wind than huey delivered. After forgetting to pack the 6.4m, I decided to rig the 7m, which ended up being barely enough. After flogging around for an hour Woody must have taken pity and insisted I use his JP 66 wide which made for at least an enjoyable 45min before Huey again vanished, whilst I was well down wind of the carpark. Good catching up with Mark, Glenn, Alby and Michael. Big thanks to Mark for the loan of the board and fin.

Green Head, WA, AU Great catching up and racing with a few pinnaroo crew. Good turn out for the race, 42 in total wind looked like it was going to boot in so took the small gear option and went the 91 Exocet and a 5.4 nx sailworks.Turned out the wrong choice and should of went bigger. The course was set by gps and for the south wester but the wind swung southerly whitch made the outside marks super deep and tough to get to, with the inside marks you really had to head up. There was lots of carnage on the second mark with crew sailing over the reef and smashing fins and boxes, it paid to keep your eye on the front runners and follow there lines. very challenging conditions and was glad to finish the race in 13th again. Stoked with kais 5th place. Great turnout at the sporting club for dinner and presentations and lots of after race talk going on :)

The Screamin Leamin on Saturday was a pretty good turnout and plenty of fun. With lots of Pinaroos racing. I had plenty of power on my 5.6 Hucker and 97 Simmer 3XS. I was right on Jesper and Ben's tail about three quarters of the way in until I catapulted a fell back behind Karen Jaggi. I finished 5th overall so I'm pretty stoked with that.

Huge congrats Kai! Shows that you are up there with the elite as it was tough conditions.

Didnt bring my charger for the GPS watch so no numbers. Tough race for sure. I was exhausted after the 3rd gybe but found a second wind later in the race. Thought about quitting a few times as the forearm pump was making even water starting near impossible. The forearm fatigue made going broad off the wind very difficult. I had to throw in a few extra gybes to make the marker. Will definitely have to re-think how to approach these races as I honestly got spanked.

As usual Leeman had its share of casualties, broken gear and rescues. The guy who injured his foot also broke his brand new mast when rigging. So I cant complain about my day.Laughing

Lots of lessons learned and things to work on.
