A crazy day of racing in Cervantes. It started off light so we rigged big (i rigged 7.0 NX). It came in strong around 12:30 so we changed down to 6.2's and started our first race at 1 o'clock. I had plenty of power for the first couple, but by the end I was fully nuked in 30 knot winds. There was carnage around the marks and some big catapults on the runs. I was on the 57 Windtech most of the time but also gave the 97 Simmer 3XS a little run.

Cervantes, WA, AU,,full on racing at cervantes. Rigged big, derigged went the 6.2 nx sailworks with 3 different fin set ups through out the day. wind got stronger and stronger and by the 4th last race it was survival mode and hard to sheet in,  stacks everywhere, saw scott get a beauty just infront of me,easy 30 knots and a real challenge but super fun :)

Got down thirsty pt early morning and wind was quite strong but easterly which is cross shore there. Wind dropped around noon and then swung to SSW. Rigged my 6.2 which was good for the 1st 3 races but changed to the 31 pointer from the 27 weedy as I struggled to get upwind on the weedy.

Wind booted in and I was way overcooked on the 6.2 and bigger fin. I was considering sitting out the last race as it got dangerously windy. Stroppo who was just infront of me all day, called it a day and i was going to do the same but had to get downwind anyway.

As expected I was way overpowered and sheeting out in the gusts. Carnage everywhere but somehow managed to gybe around all the marks OK. Turned out to be my best heat but unfortunately I wasnt able to get one back on that jolly old chap Stroppo.Laughing

Fun times and a few epic stories to talk about at the pub as usual.

6.2 Overdrive, 85 Sonic, 27 Weedy then 31 Sonnntag

A good training run, wind dropped off after rigging so underpowered most of the time. Pleasant enough.

Strong winds and then reallly strong winds. It seems I missed the memo about the reef in front of the 3rd mark but it did provide for some entertaining dismounts. Fun times had by all.

Day 2 of the Cervantes Windsurf Challenge - 4 heats of giant slalom on the epic Thirsty Point track. Cool

I was on my Windtech 64 + 7.0 TR9 combo all day, a few different fins, but ended up on the 33 Tribal WS.

First three rounds on this set-up was good.  Last round, when I was heading upwind and get side-swiped by 25K+ gusts, I knew was gonna be wild!

Got a pretty good start (all my starts were good this year, a big improvement on last year).  First leg...fxck I'm lit!!

Made a decent gybe and set off on leg two.  Still freakin lit.  Leg three was mental, probably the most out of control I've ever been on a windsurfer and pretty much tailwalking my way down the reach.

Got to the last gybe mark utterly spent, but still inside the top 20, and blew my gybe.  Took ages to get going (board kept flipping upside down as I was trying to waterstart) and lost a heap of places, but glad to finish in one piece without damaging myself or any kit.

Another great Cervantes event, not sure we'll be racing today but keen for a foil later.

Shout out to Kenny who held down a 6.2 all day, which on a pound for pound basis means he was even more over-powered than I was!!

Slalom event at Cervantes, Thirsty Point. Was a hoot of a day but I only managed to finish 2 of the 4 races. Had to save a bit of energy for the acousic gig at the Lobster Shack and presentations evening. Was an awesome weekend and even managed to score a new RRD board! Wahoo! Heaps of windsurfers turned up (I think around 65+) and camped on the overflow oval near the football club. Great atmosphere and camaraderie all round. Was on the WindTech 64 with 7.0 then 6.3 Loft racing blade and a 34cm WindTech slalom fin.

Great turnout by the Pinnas. Kai did the best out of the Pinnas with 14th. Ant, Scott and Pointman did very well also. Congrats to Dan for winning the RRD board in the raffle. Looks like a nice piece of equipment. Slowboat was in the top 5 every race. Well done mate.

I appreciate the praise for the last race result. When Slowy and Stroppo are overpowered on a 6.3 I should really be on a 4.5!

How's Jesper's crazy skills - comes 8th and only sailed a slalom board once in 2019 (in Leeman race).

But he has been doing heaps of advanced cross-training Tongue out
