hoppybogan (25813km): Stansbury, SA, AU Westerly shifting South late FF102, GPS 6.6, 28 choco weedy Fitness sail. Fair effort to link the gusts today in the straight off shore wind. Had some nice flat water to work with and even ventured out in the bay over towards the jetty. The Southerly change came when i was powered up on starboard in the middle of the bay. It knocked me around 45 degrees heading out to the leases. One of those situations when you are happily sailing along and then no wind wibble wobble. Realized i had to foot steer around with the wind change doing the wibble wobble without falling in. . Headed back in after that 'cause it was a 10 knot breeze. Happy to get out though, and will go Wednesday too | ||||||||||||||||||
Trousers (14352km): el Bog, SW22-28kts, prob some bigger gusts, according to BoM. Was lumpy and gusty today. A few looked but didn't rig. But a handful had a swing, and came back grinning. I was on my Hellcat52, the Falcon 78l and the maiden voyage of my BP 28 weed/speed fin. I kept spinning it off the back of chop, and learned from Carl later that it's equiv to a 21cm slalom. My smallest slalom fin is a 30 - no wonder I struggled with it. Having said that, it (unsurprisingly) sat the the Falcon quite low, which was helpful with the chop we saw today. I reckon I'll follow Carl's advice and get a 31 and 24 to cover my sail ranges and round out my LG quiver. I also had my extension pop out of the foot a few times. It's one I don't use that often, so I need to look closely at it. But at one stage I stacked a gybe and came up, realised the board had disconnected and now was speeding off downwind. Put in a few big strokes to catch it before it made a ran for Lake Alexandrena and freedom! So a bit of equipment issues, not my finest session but still great just getting out and riding some spicy conditions with my mates.

Captain skip bogan (50090km): Great arvo sesh at Boggy lake. Arrived to see a good looking young lady in a bikini riding her horse in the water. We don't see this at Boggy often - I hope she comes down again :-). Supposed to work in the morning but changed weekends - very happy i did. Wind was cranking at times in the mid 30's but was very gusty. Rigged the 6.3 and glad i did with the gusty conditons. Headed out during a 30 knots squall and had some air time before making it up the top to flater conditions. Chris D was up there and had a few runs with him. Very happy with kit today and managed several 36 knot runs and 35 knot 10 seconds in some pretty crazy conditions. The ride back to shore was going to be fun but managed it okay with a quick mile and straight back to shore. Went out for a second sesh with Chris - great to sail with you again Chris. Good turnout but only Leon, Chris D, Trousers and another couple of guys went out. Happy to keep it all together today in some massive squals. Stoked with the last 4 sessions - great start to 2018 and it sounds like Lake George is happening - hanging to get down there... Boggy lake - 25 to 35 knots. Patrik 87 / 6.3m Gun sails GSR / Black project weed speed 31.
