That’s what I am talking about. Cheech and Chong have left their Boogie Board Bags in Bali this year and as a result there is some beautiful weed forming up at Fangyland.  I got down straight after school drop off to see Slugmeister drifting aimlessly out from the Hook. I was thinking Cap’n Calm had killed it by trying to sneak his speed board in to the back of the Commode. 

An excellent opportunity to whack the surplus America’s Cup Spinnaker on the Barge and go and annoy both of them, or so I thought.  By the time I had rigged and was on the water, the two of them were putting down some runs in the low 30’s and I was so over powered it I was selling off the surplus to Western Power. I tried to keep the basket under the balloon for a few runs but it was awful. I came back in, changed down to the 7.5 and all was good in the world again. 

Sludge swapped out his FF for a Delta as the tide fell and this gave me a good look at the difference in his board and sailing angles. Suffice to say, I am happy with the result. 

I left the speed twins Cap’n and Sludge enjoying the inside run, and I went on a bit of a look around to see what weedy goodness I could find elsewhere.  My tracks tell the story. The wind kept dropping and so I never got any great runs, but it was nirvana to sail a decent distance in just total glass. Magic carpet ride, how I missed you.

The start of the smoooooooooooooth.

Out at fangys with just Fangy and Slugger, Tide was high and wind up and down when we arrived. In the lulls the mirror stuff started to show. As the tide dropped more and more mirror appeared. Unfortunatly wind was also getting iffy. Wasn't in the mood to grovel around so called it a day. But it was great watching Fangy and Slugger flying around on the mirror as I drove away.

I used the 53cm board, 6.2 koncept and 21cm filleted fin. Just right most of the time, but a tad overdone in the gusts.

Hope we've improved the Hr and perhaps distance a tad.

2s 32.929, 5x10 30.639, 1hr 19,596, @ 22.495 At 50m, 23.400 at 52m, so there is a difference of 2m between GW52 and watch, guess you should always aim for a 48m separation, getting exactly 50m is very risky. NM 27.766. dist 72.56. The distance difference is probably down to the watch having a min speed set to 0 and the GW52 set to 2knts

you can see even here, I only just get away with 50m, it's right on the line.

Also right on the 52m radius. So if you're setting up gates, set them at 48m not 50, otherwise you could miss out on a PB.

Carlisle St, Safety Bay, WA, AU    RSR evo6 8.6, F race 140, Trib ws 41

First time out at Safety bay for ages. Good to catch up with a few of the regulars. Got there and everyone was floating around on small gear as it had been good earlier. Took the chance to rig the new evo for the first time. As it took a while to do this the wind slowly decided to increase leaving me thinking I was going to get Mullered with the big gear. Set off from the beach and wow, what a powerfull sail, totaly uncontrolable, a bit of fine tuning was required. After a few runs harness lines and outhaul adjusted started to enjoy the sail until I attempted my first jybe, the cams rotaded nicely but wasnt expecting the huge amount of power as they popped and got pulled over the front. Totaly different to the firewings that im used to. After another couple of iffy jybes was starting to get used to it and was well pleased with the alpha in the choppy conditions. Mission acomplished and the sail can stay in the van and good training for the upcoming slalom racing. Downside is that its left me wanting my other sails to have that powerful locked in feeling.

Another session tonight after work with the Stroppo who called Liptons as the place to go.

Got there and there was quite a healthy breeze blowing so rigged the small sail, though I'd check the wind speed as there were lots of smallish whitecaps out there, holey crap 11 -15 knots in foiling terms thats some hefty green arrows (Well it is for me at this stage), unfortunately Huey is not shy of being a tricky bastard and promptly dropped about 4 knots as I walked back to the car.

There was a serious low tide tonight, which meant the 20m past the weed bergs turned out the was a missing "k" in the 20m it was a bloody long trudge out through some very nice weed, only trod on 3 ALF's on the way out.

Eventualy got to where I could launch (point grey) and found out what had happened to the wind,.

Got on the foil a couple of times and had a couple of hard touch and goes, unfortunately there just wasn't enough wind for a 5.8m so after a couple of runs over decided to flag it as there was another good trudge ahead of me.

Not the best session but fun none the less, good to see the Stroppy one seriously coming to grips with this foiling malarky, another couple of times and he's just going to disapear into the distance.

Good times although probably not at Liptons for a while until the tide fills in a long way.

On a postive note Liptons has the best crop of Stringy weed I've seen in years with not mucgh snot yet. The stringy is a good knee deep and deeper and theres lots of it, if it keeps growing at this rate it bodes well for summer, Hardies is looking good when I go riding my bike as well.
