The morning after sail with Frank at Fangyland. Vice Cap’n Fugly had demanded a team hour and distance day from the warmth of his Ezy-Lift Armchair in his swamp kingdom down south. Being the true team player and demotivational cheerleader I was pretty sure I was not going to do either. Huey backed me up on this by playing silly buggers with the breeze. The air temp was 13 and the breeze was 15 knots straight from the Albantartica when I started rigging, but of course it then dropped precipitously to 8 knots by the time I got in the water. Happily, it picked up again so that I could get some planing action on the Barge/SimmerSCR7.8/FF24, but for the most part, I was underdone. If I had my 8.6 rigged I probably would have doubled my distance because a spent a chunk of time travelling at that frustrating ‘just below planing’ speed. As it turned out, I went just as fast as yesterday in a fraction of the breeze and with a fraction of the sphincter clenching.

I stayed out wide and had no issue with bergs. Not that I would have seen them, as the water was stirred up into a lovely muddy colour from yesterday’s storm, along with all the sediment in the run off water. I had some nice squirts, and was enjoying a nice low tempo session, but eventually, I had to come in because I lost feeling in my hands, they were soooo cold. I am defrosting nicely now, and well pleased that my crayon work is, once again, several levels of excellence above that low bar set by the Cap’n yesterday. That’s my Top Ten Fangy day right there.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU

Really awesome sail, just what I needed, planing most the time with very mellow conditions.  Just right after such a long break.  Thanks to Firie for the nice chat. I think if it wasn't for the chat I might not have gone out at all but the talk of sailing and encouragment that it looks like enough to get going alright eventually convinced me.

Was so good to get out and just have some time on the water.  Hope to try and line up a few more days as soon as I can.

Already scoring the last two days as “Top 10” Ross, wow, there must be slim pickings at the moment. Good to see the lads out of the arm chairs ;)

Thanks Stroppo, went out at Lipton's. Had a look at Fangy's. The weedburgs looked uninviting but Lipton's was lovely and clear and it was almost sunny this afternoon.

I'm the encourager not the doer Paul EmbarassedLaughing  I tell you, you looked like you were having a such a great time in the sun that I almost wished I was on the water also, conditions looked great. I hung around watching till the cold and thoughts of red wine and heaters got the better of me Wink
