A very awesome day at LG, started early at 12 for a couple of runs as Issac offered to do a drone clip for me. Took the 6.2 and 80l and it was already very windy out in the middle. Was maxed on the 6.2 and hard to gybe but great fun, the drone mustve been hard to hold there Gary. Had a few more runs then the wind picked up even more, so it was time to get the wrappers off my brand new Mach 1. It looked so shiny and new and Hardie commented that first time on new gear you had to make it special. Put the keef fillet in the 80l and up to the other side, where Issac was doing a follow the leader NM, tried to follow him, Ezza and Firie but I crashed and burned half way down. A few more runs and got to grips with the mach 1 more quickly than I thought I was going to, I love my overdrives but this sail is amazing, light, stable and balanced and easier to hold in the gusts. The keef filet was also just fantastic, it sliced through the weed, held its course and plenty of lift. Around 2ish I saw the water was getting flatter so speed board time, the wind was really honking then but the 5.5 still felt good. First run down the speed strip, could feel the acceleration and instead of scared I was like far out how good is windsurfing. A couple more runs then decided it was time to get back to the beach and take a breather.
Stoked with the results today, the encouragement and support from the gpstc crew makes a huge impact, cheers to Captain Keef's coaching in the SP speed canals, and custom fins for different locations and conditions; the Gustbusters teamies and other windsurfing friends, Nudie brother who has organised a couple of fabulous windsurifng trips to New Cal and this year LG and arranged the UFO fins; the LG housemates and Neighbours and all the other windsurfers at LG this year, how good is it here, cant wait to come back already; Andy getting me the the Mach1's to my doorstep before I raced back down here, Steve selling me his isonic family :) love it all
