Broken boom and a long walk, but otherwise a nice day in Fogland.

Well done on the PB ill. Broken booms are a pain Peter, was it ally or carbon?

The boom was a hybrid, the aluminum front end broke. It was a few years old, and the manufacturer (HPL) has long gone out of business..

I had a similar experience with a more recently made X6...... I have converted to carbon, the cost is not good but reliability when you are on the water is important to me.

I thought carbon booms are more likely to break, especially from point pressure. At least around here, the only masts that seem to break are 100% carbon masts. But a lot of sailors use freeride gear that works well with lower carbon masts.
