Marmong Point, NSW, AU

Exocet RS Formula, Maui Titan 6.5, NP RS Flight Al foil - Wind ENE 8-14 knots

I'd hoped to get out to Coal Point and do a nice hour for the Hour of Power, but the clouds came in and killed the wind off by the time I got out of work.  So headed to Marmong and pulled out the foil.  First time with the Formula + Foil combination (have used 85 wide slalom before) and it worked really well.  Super stable and had some long runs.   Speed is a foil PB for me by 3 knots.    Still finding it very physical, need more practice but its rewarding when it all comes together.  Peak speed was about 10 metres before a crash!

Not as good as yesterday but not too bad....a few of us there Sue, Johnny, Peter, Bruce, Pugs, Wayne ,  Frothy and ???

Used the smaller 87L isonic and the trusty 7m with the delta 19...

Bonnells Bay, NSW, AU

exocet RS2, S2 venom 7m, select V Max 33.

a quick 1.5 hr sail before work see breeze was up early so I could sail.

decided to go for hr first sail this month.

very happy with hr but was trying to get over 26 but very rough conditions full open water lake sailing with large swells and chop brutaly hard on the body.

A huge PB for lake Macquarie anyway.

I think its great the hr comp its a way of showing off your local spot and the Tassie boys and also WA have done that with big time with some world clase hrs.

5-19kts patchy NE peel st Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

87ltre isonic - 6.6m Koncept - 25 BP 50 weedie

Can't say I enjoyed the session as I would have been better on the 111ltre board but it was just what I needed to help me stop worrying so much about the heart. I didn't feel 100% and had to stop a few times to settle heart palps but they did settle. Stuffed the shoulder up though as the patchy wind on the smaller board meant I was using my arms more in the lulls.

Still getting used to the 87 isonic. I put some dakine straps on the rear which helped but I still need to adjust them so the opening is at the right angle to get in. I noticed after 2 months off with the shoulder that my upwind technique and getting into the rear straps has gone downhill..Undecided

Too shallow to go much into the flats and I didn't quite trust the 20cm deep fin to hold in the chop.  The isonic seems to need a more active sailing style than my other boards..when I got a gust , got powered up and trusted the fin it felt great! One minute you'd be going gangbusters  but then you'd get a lull and you'd have to get out the straps and everything felt pretty average. It seems to be a lively but soft ride in the small chop and ok to gybe.

Didn't feel I sailed very well but I suppose I'm not 100% and still getting used to the gear.. TOW is needed to get used to things.

At the moment I'm wishing I didn't sell the old 89 falcon..but then I knew it like the back of my hand..probably after 4 years on the isonic I'll be as comfortable. Smile

Thanks for all the nice comments. Really happy to get a PB, it's been over a year.

You don't need new gear to get PBs, I bought the Carbon Art secondhand 7 years ago. - Great board in the chop
