CA70 and 7.0

NE came in quite late and was gusty. The lake was choppy and the tide was running the wrong way at the islands.

The cloud made it difficult to see the high gap for the speed run. Otherwise it was a great session.

Will went over the handle bars and snapped his X9 Carbon boom in half over at the islands, but we taped it back together and he sailed home

15-23kts ENE Coal Point, NSW, AU

 7m NCX - RS2 ( 90ltre) -33 select pointer

 then 5.5m Mach 2 race- 80ltre iso - 28 maui ultra weedy.

I'm surprised I did that much distance Undecided Spent most of the time rigging and stuffing around with gear.

Did one run with the 7m NCX and 90 but it came in and I didn't really enjoy the trip back. My back leg was cramping up as well which didn't help.

Decided to try the new 5.5m for the first time..1st time I've had a 4 cam racesail and there was some swearing trying to get the cams on..Undecided I put the weedy in the iso to settle it down ( don't know if that was good idea)..I was thinking this is going to be 'interesting" with my first time for the iso off Coal and with a new sail that I couldn't get to rotate..

Played it safe and went across to the shallows and sure enough it wouldn't rotate..I ended up sitiing in the sail and using my knee and weight to pop the cams..Frown..Back in and took the spacers out. A little better. Managed to gybe and get it to rotate but the next run I had to sit in the sail again..Looks like the cams need to be shortened..

I didn't enjoy the first run on the iso but eventually started to gain confidence and so long as I wasn't mega powered and avoided the largest chop it was fun.

Oh well. I survived, didn't stack it or get stuck out there with a sail that wouldn't pop..Looking forward to getting the sail working properly. It feels very stable although I found it harder to tell where the wind was coming from or whether I was oversheeting..

Boy 25kts feels ballistic in chop..Laughing

Exocet RS4, TRX 7.0, Vmax 41 - Wind NE 15 knots

Good to catch up with everyone.  Was a bit optimistic when rigging, should have been on 7.6 and big board.  Fingers crossed for good wind over the weekend.

Nice sessions boys. Hope you didn't use up all the wind! That must be some good tape, Andy!
