15 - 25kts SSE Lake George, SA, AU

6.2m M1OD- 80ltre iso - 21.5cm FF ( cutdwon 24)

 then 5.5m Mach 2- 50ltre iso- 18cm FF

Decided to try a downwind hr for the first time. Started a bit early and grovelled up the lake. I didn't get as far up as I'd planned as it was just too patchy.

Started and ran aground on the first gybe and had to walk out.. Muffed the second ( fatigue starting to set in). Then it started to come in and it was really good . Enjoyed hooning across the lake. Halway it really kicked in and i decided safety was more important then speed ( regret that now) and stopped and changed clew holes. Next run I realised it wasn't on properly so stopped again to fix it.Enjoyed seeing parts of the Lake I haven't seen before.

Some really big weedbeds in Kevs bay with decent wind. Went for a few runs but couldn't quite score a gust. Down to the spit and had one run but I didn't wait for gust but it was great flatwater.

Pretty buggered by now and hadn't taken much water and no food with me . The wind was picking up and I was in zombie mode a fair way of the trip back. Weird flying along overpowered in chop  on autopilot.

Certainly given me more confidence now. Wasn't as hard to get back as I thought although I needed food and rest once back.

The weedbeds were going off on the way back with big gusts and deadflat..Pity I didn't want to lose any ground upwind..Undecided

Found an island of rosks in Kevs Bay. Also found some submerged rocks in the radius around it. Luckily I was being cautious and had a FF so no damage.

Be careful if you're down there and give the area a wide berth..

Lunch . I'd done 75kms so aimed for 100kms. Back out for some speed runs. Should have rigged the 5m as ity was 25kts plus by now but i wanted to try the 5.5m Mach 2 for the first time since I put the right cams on it.

Went great! Well and truly overcooked at times but no control issues. Couldn't score any wind on tthe weedbeds although plenty out in the middle. Got the 2 sec near the rockgarden which was fun but pretty bumpy.

Arms were hurting and I wasn't enjoying it so I pulled the plug. I'll get distance on a more sedate day.Cool

Heaps out again.

Chris & Gabe ,Frothie, Pete , Glynn and others from our launch.

Think I'll just go for a little curise tomorrow.. Assuming its not too strong first up..Undecided

Thanks Maree. I was really hoping for over 20..Undecided I was complacent because all my previous attempts have been close reach /works so I assumed a broader attempt would have plenty of leeway for a quick stop..Dur Yell

Top hr Andrew! You may not be here long but you're making the most of it..I love the area near the spit. I want to spend more time there but it's not really the spot where I want to be caught out when the wind kicks in another 10kts and I've got to get back.Foot in mouth Just have to pick my day..Smile
