Mackay, QLD, AU

Missed some good breeze yesterday, so blew a few hours off work. 20-25kNts with squally patches. Tested out the 'new' Mistral flow after doing a new sugar deck a week ago. Just love this board in the chop, really comfortable and could push it hard with control. I wish I discovered this board 15 years ago when they were new.... I think the Naish FSW has been made redundant. Got knocked down from 32.4 on the dial, but still very happy with the open ocean speed. 1998 Flow 276, 310 Select SL9, 5.9 Koyote.

iS90, 6.3RBlade, CL SL2 33 - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU SE 12-20kn

Wind was really up and down and probably would have done better with the 7.0 and maybe the iS97 but time was limited.  Always happy to see a 33+ on the dial although I had limited chances to go broad as the water was just too messed up.  Spent some time slogging but had fun none the less.  Never got a chance to do a nm as my last run was a slog home.

Don't worry snags, they'll be gone as soon as the next GI trip occurs. The IS90 is really the goods in the rough stuff, but I'll stick by my old school boards. There's perverse pleasure in being just off the pace on 1000$ of kit.  Keeps everyone guessing.

Kel,

The fins are absolutely brilliant.  Would love you to try one but doesn't look like I'll get up there again this year.

Nigel,

I stupidly changed my tip from the highlanders to hurricanes. We're coming to Townsville at end of June for kid's sport carnival and I might throw some gear on.  Will check forecast beforehand and give you and Luca a call if you're around.
