Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU

Nice little sneaky sail late this afternoon. With the huge high camped down south I thought that it would have been a lot stronger on the dam that it turned out to be. Beautiful day none the less. Lots of of sunshine and a reasonable breeze at times. Sailed a good majority of the session under powered with typical dam conditions - 0 to 20 knts.............nothing......still nothing........bullet..bullet.....nothing.

Tried to find Herby and convince him to sneek in a quick sail but nobody was home  - catch you next time Herb. Really should have pack the Moma Screamer (129 lt) with the 7.5 T4. This setup would have easily shot through those nasty lulls and onto the next wind line.

Still, a very nice arvo in the fresh water.

104 Screamer, 6.5 T4, 375 BPR.... must be getting fatter. Poor old 104 is starting to sink under me in those lulls Surprised.

Lake Cootharaba, QLD, AU

I arrived a bit late aparantly. It was howling as myself and Russel pulled up, so the 82L board was unsheathed for the gnarly conditions. Luckily I had also set up the 108L just in case and as it would happen it was the board used with its largest fin. Eventually I spat the dummy in the gusty to hollow pockets and packed my toys away. There is wind forcast for tomorrow but unfortunatley I must do work stuff.

The water temprature is amazing here and we are in godly weather down here in SE QLD :-) Now for a cold beer or two and an awsome sunset.....

Sail: 6.5 Ezzy Lion

Board: JP carbon slalom 108L

Fin: Black Project slalom 35cm

Kurrimine Beach, QLD, AU...Billy, the reason I wasn't home woz coz I went to Kurrimine with Rossco.      Wind on beach was going between 10 and 14 Knots.     Low tide made it very enjoyable  with 5.9m 02 and 115 Screamer.    Actually got a few jibes and thought it was fab to be skimming across the bay in glorious sunshine.    Downside is that the session freshened up a scab on foot and I kicked a few rocks.....LG...Lifes Good!!!Cool/Innocent

Port Douglas, QLD, AU

Hit the beach a bit after 3o'clock and i was looking at a very' amped up' sea and the rev counter was pretty much off the dial as far as the wind went..Had 5.4m North rig cranked down to the max on' 97lt Isonic 'Turbo Duck' used 34cm vector volt fin i bought off Benny after GI speed week. Today is the first time i have used it.Had a good sail for 2hrs Isonic felt great and i had it dialed in nicely.. It  was about as rough as it gets up here..Was keen for a good blast down wind but it just wasn't gunna happen way to rough..So i had to be content playing in the waves and some very angary chop,Which was great but had to stay totally focused the whole time..Got dumped in the drink once and missed my last gybe of the day,Was getting a bit shagged so ipulled up a bit earlier than usual..Andrew came out in the second half on free ride board and 6m sail..I was a bit worried about him and i told him not to go out to far as it was getting rather ugly out in the big pool..but the big man handled it very well and i was pleasantly surprised..Was happy with his effort..Then he started giving me cheek and said he was going kick my ass soon as his top speed wasn't much slower than mine...All in the name of fun..Cheers ED..

Port Douglas, QLD, AU,  Finally, a "Eureka" moment.  I think the file size for my earlier GPS data was too much for KA72 to handle.  It may not be much, but here are my first ever logged results for my Thursday session.  I am glad to finally crack the GW 52 code.  So if any of you guys upgrade I guess I can help with any problems.  Only 3 kilometres it seems - I'm sure that couldn't be right - but a modest beginning.  My 2 second Peak is good, and I am happy with my 10 second average.  I'm sailing Saturday afternoon so hopefully I can add to this data.

Port Douglas.   One hell of a sail.  Ed and I snuck out for a sail in 25-30 knots - all about survival.  Starboard Atomic 120, Flying Objects Freeride 35cm, Gator 6m.  Never thought I'd get so much use out of that sail = thought it was a Green Island Special.  But the wind was super strong this afternoon.  I wasn't sure if the 35cm fin would allow me to move the mast base back an inch for a smoother ride, but it did - just as long as I didn't put too much pressure on the fin.  Only had one spin out.  Working high up into the wind on the way out, and surfing down waves with the sail feathered out, hauled down and flattened right out.  Got a top speed of 24.5 knots and a 10second burst of 22.8 knots.  Still stuffing around with my GW 52... if this is the future of GPS sailing you can all look forward to it.  I will eventuallly get it sorted, but at the moment it is still a challenge.  It doesn't have an SD card, it has internal memory, and the link between its software and the KA72 site is not quite happening at the moment.  I will have to persevere.  Ed was out on his isonic 97 with his 5.4 North hauled down and pulled flat.  He said the breeze was even stronger out the back.  Very challenging and completely absorbing.  Only had one trip over the nose today, but discretion was the better part of valour and we decided to live to fight another day.  As James said, a pretty amazing week from the Gods of Wind.   Likewise, it's great to see everyone getting out amongst it.

Well done to all who entered the water yesterday. We have a budding group of wordsmith's amongst us and it is really great to read the detail and effort that goes into some of these sessions. Awesome - cant wait for the next round.

James, I'll be sailing at Port Douglas Saturday from about 1pm - I think Ed might be too. I think it's about 17-18 knots with a pretty low tide so a bit of a walk out but that should keep the swell down a bit.
