Lilacs, Albany, WA, AU

Koncept 6.2, Sonic 85L + Pepe Tribal 29 + Tribal S'weed 23

Well that was a wet sail with Shane, we both even adopted the Wazza trademarked preparation by driving down to Lilacs in our wetsuits.

Started out with the 6.2 which was the right choice for about the first 15mins & then way over powered for most of the time. Felt like I had too much lift from the 29 so I went & changed down to the 23. In hindsight I should have also changed to the 5.4 instead of just adding a bit more downhaul. Did see Shane make a sizeable dent in the water whilst onshore.

Had a few good runs but a lot of the time especially across the wind I was really having to feather the sail a lot & struggling for control. The rain never let up & there were some wicked squalls, think that's the first time I've sailed at Lilacs & at times not been able to see the shore from any direction, weird feeling.

Towards the end I had to shelter under the sail a couple of times before a little clear spot & lull allower me to sail in. By this stage was getting cold & have realised I'm very sailing unfit. Shane had already started to unrig & whilst the conditions looked to be maybe starting to moderate I figured that was Huey just laying a trap for me. Considered going out again but wasn't that keen on sailing by myself, besides a hot shower was looking irresistable at this point. So I piked out Embarassed

The gun sailors would have loved it out there today.

Cam it was actually an Easterly, sometimes fairly tru but swinging to the South East quite often, they don't happen that often down here at this time of year. Was pissing down & about 14 degrees as well. Tide was pretty high so a bit lumpy in the middle but flatish right on the bank.

Shane as you said the smaller board would have probably been better & we both could have done with smaller sails!

Thanks for the congrats guys Smile

Very nice work Albantarticans, although you should know the reason Wazzarubber got around in his wettie was something altogether different.

In any case, big congrats on that PB Morts, I hope it wasnt raining when you did that - I reckon the rain would sting your face big time at that speed!

Well done on the pb Morts. Blue skys here all day but reports from Albany were of very heavy rain. Glad you got out and scored a pb. Good on you for the back up Shane . It enabled Morts to get a pb. That is great .
